Role Purpose As an agency dedicated to cycling and thegreat outdoors, we help brands connect with riders and outdoorenthusiasts across the world through their social channels. AsSocial Media Manager, your role is to plan, drive and implementsocial media marketing for SHIFT Active Media clients. You willtake responsibility for ensuring that all social content isdelivered against a strategic plan that you will have helped createand own moving forward, is creatively brilliant, and is effectiveand achievable within budget. The role will require you to: Developnew social strategies and content plans that connect and build astrong affinity with consumers. As a Social Media Manager, yourresponsibilities for the strategic side of the role will be greaterthan as an Exec, and you will not only be creating the content, butplanning it and contributing much more to the research and strategyside of the team too. Interpret information from various sources(e.g. subject matter experts, research docs, competitor activity,Google Analytics, white papers, and platform trends) to inform yourstrategic and tactical recommendations. Develop recommendationsacross a range of social channels and distil your ideas andthoughts into well-articulated plans with a clear rationale. Takean active role in creating and directing the development of newsocial creative, including generating new ways of creating qualitycontent at the scale required by our clients. This will includeworking as part of an integrated team (creative, media, and PR) onlarge campaigns, as well as solo social campaigns and ongoingretained ‘always-on’ social programmes. Researching and compilingreports and insights on ambassadors, influencers and creators forour clients to work with as part of campaigns and always-on socialand content activity. Writing, delivering, and managing the processof social briefs to get the best from both internal and externalcreative suppliers, such as SHIFT’s creative team, athletes,ambassadors, and client teams. Determine the evaluationrequirements and produce reporting for the social clients youmanage on a monthly or quarterly basis (and ad hoc as required).Writing and editing copy, creating and editing images, andcreating, editing and working with video to ensure effectivecontent and quality standards are upheld, and that content iscorrectly tailored for each brand, aligned to tone of voice andstyle guides. Develop a strong day-to-day relationship with keyclients and internal stakeholders, being recognisable as thetrusted ‘face’ of SHIFT social to our clients that you directlymanage. Part of this is understanding that sometimes theevent-driven nature of our work means occasional weekend andevening work, to be agreed with lots of notice in advance. Producethought leadership materials for SHIFT marketing, including blogposts, LinkedIn articles, and PR opportunities. When a hire is madefor the role, you will manage a Social Media Exec, ensuring theiroutput is of a high quality and on plan, and supporting andcovering them at key periods. Skills, behaviours, and competenciesassociated with this role Cycling and outdoor passion: You don’tneed to ride, run, or hike like a pro, but you must be passionateabout the outdoors and enjoy keeping up with all the latest newsfrom events and races, and not just in your preferred discipline.You’ll want to develop your career in the cycling and outdoorindustry. Interpersonal skills: As someone who will work closelywith internal teams and clients, you must be confident indeveloping good relationships with a wide range of people,fostering collaboration, taking ownership and responsibility, andcommunicating clearly and effectively. Social and content native:You are passionate about and embrace the opportunities presented bysocial media. You will have an expert grasp of how channels andplatforms work, understand what’s possible, and be proactive inrecommending important trends to our agency and clients, includingnew tools and services, ensuring our clients stay ahead of thecurve with platform innovations. Community management: You canassess comments and direct messages for authenticity and riskpromptly, escalating any issues to the wider team or client with arecommended approach that protects brand reputation. Creativity:You enjoy coming up with creative ideas to help solve clientproblems, as well as providing feedback on the ideas of others. Youdemonstrate this creativity in the written and visual content youcreate for our clients and agency. Video and image productionskills: You will be skilled to a proficient level at editing videoand images using platforms like Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, andCanva. You will understand what makes good social multimediacontent, and be comfortable producing content that resonates withaudiences on these channels and for clients. Turning data intoinsights: Ability to interpret social data and external sources todrive content optimisation and campaign adjustments in real-time.Written and presentation skills: You’re able to produce accurateand well-crafted presentations and documents, and present theseconfidently and engagingly. You can communicate complex things in asimple, understandable way, and can sub-edit work of others.Critical thinking and evaluation: You think through problems, makeinformed choices, and consult on key decisions where needed. Youevaluate ideas against briefs and requirements and, where needed,provide constructive feedback. Reliable and self-organising: Withlots going on, you’re organised and able to manage your own time;you take responsibility for getting things done and can be reliedupon to do things within given timescales. You’ll self-organiseusing platforms like ClickUp and Slack, planning your own time todeliver the work required, and proactively communicating as neededwith the right people. Eager to learn and show leadership: This isan important role in SHIFT, and you will be looked to for expertiseand leadership in this specialist domain. You will bring confidenceas well as humility to the role, helping others learn from yourknowledge, especially if/when more junior hires are made in theteam. Requirements for the role: Experience: 3-5 years ofexperience in social media marketing, managing campaigns and socialmedia accounts.
