An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist in Venous- thromboembolism & Anticoagulation, to join our busy Anticoagulation team in the Specialised Medicine Directorate, based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

We are seeking an experienced and caring individual with a genuine interest in venous thromboembolism and anticoagulation to work within

The post holder will operate as an independent practitioner/clinical expert with in-depth knowledge and experience of venous-thromboembolism and anticoagulation, providing flexible cover to the Trust wide ICE advisory services, and VTE ambulatory pathway and Anticoagulation clinic based at RHH. You will be required to dose patients on anticoagulation therapy inclusive of Warfarin, Direct Acting Oral Anticoagulant, heparins, and other drug therapies as clinical practice develops, in keeping with NICE guidance.

Candidates will have extensive experience of health care governance, education and development, audit and incident investigation. The successful candidate will be expected to lead on Trust wide safety initiatives and improvement projects relating to anticoagulation, VTE prevention and VTE Treatment.

To provide high quality patient services and specialist care for people with, or at risk of developing, thrombotic disease and those requiring anticoagulation. Education and Qualifications

Essential criteria

First Level Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Possession of degree in nursing or working towards Management experience or evidence or leadership courses

Desirable criteria

Completion of Non-medial Prescribing course or working towards ENB 998/C&G/PP126&127 or equivalent teaching/mentorship qualification or happy to work towards

Experience

Essential criteria

Experience of working at Band 6 level or significant experience at Band 5 level Experience of multi-disciplinary team working Experience of applying research and audit in practice Evidence of policy and protocol development

Desirable criteria

Experience of Nurse lead clinics Community/networking experience.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential criteria

Experience of working in an acute hospital setting. Experience of caring for the management of patients prescribed anticoagulation Knowledge of the key professional issues and guidelines relating to professional practice Ability to work within defined timescales and be able to prioritise workload. Evidence of on -going continuous professional development Be proficient in the use of IT packages (Microsoft, Trust systems)

Desirable criteria

Experience of leading change. Knowledge of clinical governance
