What we’re looking for
We are currently looking foramarketreporter/senior reportertojoin ourglobal Generation Fuelseditorial teamcoveringthe LNG market. This role involves coverage of the global seaborne LNG market, as well as LNG bunkering and other uses.
This is an excellent opportunity for ananalytical,inquisitive,numerate andliterateindividualto develop expertise in a fast-moving and politically significant global energy market.
You will have a passion for understanding howcomplex systemswork andwill relish the prospect of developing your skills in a role that melds data-driven analysis with traditional relationship-basedreporting.
Your role will includeengaging with market participants,spotting and writing stories andmarketanalysis,as well as assessing prices. The environment is fast pacedbut values careful thought. You will enjoy collaborative work with colleagues from a range of backgrounds, many located in Argus’ other offices around the globe.
There are opportunities totravel andattend industry events,and to develop networks/specific market knowledge, as well as topresent at industry conferences and lead webinar sessions.
The role wouldbe ideally suited to adynamic and curiousself-starter with an interest in the energy industry, andwho enjoyscultivating sources and writingmarket-moving stories.
Key Responsibilities
Monitorandassessmarketsto produce daily price assessments, market analysis, newsand reports Daily contact with traders, brokers, investors and key market figures to build relationships and gather news Find engaging ways to explain complex issues – including using charts and graphics as appropriate Help to build and curate data sets that help explain market dynamics Attendmeetings,conferencesand industry eventstobuild contacts, report on news and represent Argus
Skills and Experience
Educated to Bachelor’s degree level from a leading university Previous experience in business/data journalism or in energy preferred but not essential Ability to develop, source and write industry relevant news to deadline Knowledge of the energyand commoditysectorsuseful but not essential Excellent writing,grammarand numeracyskills(these will be tested as part of the interview process) Excellent communicationand collaborationskills with the ability to network and build contacts with industry executives Strongco-ordination and time management skills Additional languages useful but not essential Proficiency/experience working with Excel
