And when you join us, you'll be a part of this genuinely collaborative environment, where everyone's voice is valued and treated equally.
We're passionate about what we do, but we don't take ourselves too seriously. Simply put, this a great place to be. So, when it comes to your life outside of work, ask us about our flexible and remote working policies designed to help you get the most out of life.
Join us as a Managing Quantity Surveyor in our Decommissioning and Waste Services (DWS) team, part of our Nuclear & Power Division, the most prominent nuclear decommissioning organisation in the UK. You'll spearhead and oversee teams across significant atomic projects, keeping world decommissioning sustainable and safe. Working closely with colleagues, clients, stakeholders and contractors, you'll also enjoy opportunities to mentor colleagues while progressing your career upward.
About our business:
DWS currently employs over 250 staff supplemented by a strong supply chain and delivers over £40m of revenue through various decommissioning and waste management frameworks. We have expanded our scope over recent years and the opportunities available to us, across our numerous portfolio areas, are diverse and growing. Our commercial function is required to grow in line with the business to support all aspects of delivery.
This new role forms a critical part of the DWS Commercial Team and will be our key representative for both our JV Partners and Clients.
Your Purpose:
We lead and support colleagues from across the DWS business (pan-discipline), to enhance our progressive and sustainable commercial team. You will manage and coordinate ~£60m p/a of contractual spend - including coordination and reporting of pan-organisational information (e.g. Defined Cost, Disallowed Cost, cost covered by Fee, invoicing and timesheets) - primarily operating within Joint Venture environments. With support, you will develop and implement world-leading 'work-smart' tools to automate and enhance your role's performance - supporting increased productivity and improving wider team performance. This includes potential implementation / testing / utilisation of Artificial Intelligence, Process Automation and Zero-Time-Input delivery mechanisms. We demonstrate commercial and collaborative leadership across a suite of Clients and Supply Chain Partners, most notably Sellafield Limited. Your focus will be on enhancing Contract delivery (primarily NEC3 and NEC4), whilst collaboratively resolving the nuances associated with bespoke T&C amendments / contracts. You will manage Client commercial interfaces including Early Warnings, Variations (e.g. Compensation Events / Losses & Expense) and conflict avoidance processes with a strong understanding for when and how best to escalate risks/issues where beneficial. You will coordinate procurement delivery, including developing strategies, tendering, negotiation and implementation of key Framework Agreements across the AtkinsRéalis Supply Chain (strong focus on Small and Medium Enterprises). Together, we guide the Social Value agenda of DWS from a Commercial perspective. We deliver upward and downward facing performance incentivisation, optimising our Client's satisfaction alongside increasing AtkinsRéalis' margin through effective delivery of savings, Commercial excellence and collaborative working practices. You will support development of an integrated commercial team by working alongside Project Management and Project Controls throughout the full project, programme and portfolio lifecycle. What You Can Bring:
Strong contractual knowledge - with extensive experience managing Contractor payment processes (NEC3 and NEC4 experience preferable). Demonstration of proactive collaborative behaviours (ISO44001:2017 knowledge / awareness considered beneficial). Experience utilising online contract and commercial management portals (e.g. CEMAR, Asite, EuroDyn, BravoSolutions etc.) Knowledge and understanding of risk management, with particular focus on Commercial Risk and associated Risk Treatment strategies. Understanding and experience in optimising, strategising, selecting, and utilising various contract options (e.g. NEC ECC vs PSC vs TSC vs SC and NEC Main Options A/B/C/D/E/F/G desirable - JCT / FIDIC / equivalent also considered). Knowledge and capability in Programme monitoring and reporting - for example against EVM, CPI, SPI etc. alongside basic evaluation and testing of construction / demolition programmes from a Commercial perspective. Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management (or equivalent) degree. Chartered Professional Status desirable (MRICS, MCIPS or equivalent). Why work for AtkinsRéalis?
