As the Lead Data Platform Engineer, you will beresponsible for overseeing data platform engineering and coretoolsets, with a focus on Azure infrastructure as code.   • Bachelor’sor Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, ora related field or equivalentexperience.
  • Experience inleading technical engineering teams and delivering and owningobjectives.
  • Provenexperience in data platform engineering, including the design,development, and optimisation of datainfrastructure.
  • Strongleadership and management skills, with the ability to lead andmentor a team of engineerseffectively.
  • Proficiencyin programming languages such as Python, Java, orScala.
  • Expertise in Azurecloud services and infrastructure as code (e.g., Azure ResourceManager templates,Terraform).
  • Strongunderstanding of data platform KPIs and accountability fordelivering measurableoutcomes.
  • Experienceworking in a product-based approach within specific technicaldomains and as part of a widerteam.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Knowledgeof the Inner Source paradigm and way ofworking.
  • Experience withcontainerisation and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker,Kubernetes).
  • AI platformexperience (enabling models anddeployment)
  • Knowledge ofcloud technologies and virtualnetworking.
  • Familiaritywith other cloud platforms (AWS, GoogleCloud).

KeyResponsibilities:StrategicLeadership:

  • Defineand own the data platform strategy and roadmap for the technicaldomains, aligned with the overall Petcare data and analyticsplatform strategy and Petcarestrategy.
  • Ensure innersourcing of platform capabilities across all divisions and regions,fostering reuse andcollaboration.
  • Track andoptimise the work done by the platform engineers within yourdomain.

PlatformDelivery & Evolution (within yourdomain):

  • Lead thedelivery of platform capabilities, ensuring scalability,performance, and security. Being “hands on” asneeded.
  • Drive the yearlyplans for the domain, ensuring alignment with the wider Petcarestrategicgoals.
  • Collaborate withthe Engineering Director and other domain leads, and architects tomaintain alignment andproductivity.

StakeholderManagement:

  • Alongwith other senior members of the team partner with D&A Leaders,engineering leads, analytics product leads, and data science leadsacross all divisions and regions to ensure platform capabilitiesmeet the needs of Petcareglobally.
  • Collaborateacross a complex and occasionally ambiguous Digital Technologyorganisation structure, using influence to achieve alignment andstrategic outcomes.
  • Act asthe key point of contact for the domain’s platform KPIs, ensuringalignment on cost management, innovation, risk reduction, and valueenablement at scale, while reporting progress and outcomes tosenior leadership up to theCDO.
