Manager, Sales and Revenue Forecasting

Location: Virtual, remote worker location possible

Studio Business Group (SBG)is looking for aManager, Sales and Revenue Forecastingwho will be responsible for delivering sales and revenue forecasts for 1st party games at any stage of their lifecycle – from early concepting to post-launch live operations. This is a newly formed role and team amalgamating responsibilities that until now have been performed by many parts of the organization into one end-to-end team covering all sales and revenue forecasting analysis. You will report to the Senior Manager of Sales and Revenue Forecasting and be responsible for delivering credible, robust, and up-to-date forecasts supporting investment decisions, project progress reviews, and short-term and long-term plans. You will collaborate with various teams ensuring that the right assumptions and inputs drive the forecast: strategy and portfolio, market and audience research, player testing, product management, studios, and marketing. This role will be at the center of many decision-making processes, and therefore we are looking for a candidate who has sound and solid gaming market understanding, solid judgment, and resilience under stakeholder pressures.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for sales and revenue forecasting supporting all processes such as investment decisions, title progress reviews, short-term and long-term business planning.
  • Sales and revenue forecasting for player acquisition as well as post-launch engagement and monetization on PlayStation and other game formats.
  • Monitor performance of sales and revenue across the formats and adjust forecasts accordingly.
  • Work with portfolio management, analytics, data science, developers, and value optimization functions to integrate information into forecasts.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product, and sales teams to ensure forecasts align with product launch schedules and marketing campaigns.
  • Maintain and evolve robust, fit-for-purpose sales and revenue forecasting methodology that considers multiple factors such as audience size, market risks, and product features.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on forecasting tools, techniques, and trends within the video game industry; continuously improve the forecasting process by adopting new tools and methodologies.
  • Deliver regular forecast updates, performance reports, and presentations to senior management and stakeholders such as developer studios, product management, sales and marketing, and SBG Leadership.
  • Develop reporting dashboards to track key sales metrics and revenue indicators.
  • Ensure that the team stays current with industry best practices and technological advancements in forecasting and sales analytics.
  • The role may have line management responsibility for a couple of junior sales and forecasting analysts (exact reporting line structure within the team to be determined later).

Qualifications & Skills:

  • BA/BS in business, strategy, finance, economics, or related field; MBA and/or CFA designation preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in roles such as market research, strategy and business intelligence, finance, or product management.
  • Experience in the gaming industry is a strong preference.
  • Strong understanding of sales cycles in the video game industry, including digital and physical sales, DLCs, microtransactions, and subscription models.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and deliver actionable insights.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present to senior management and cross-functional teams.
  • Data-driven approach combined with robust judgment and objectivity.
  • Resilience under pressure from senior stakeholders.
  • Self-starter, showing initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Passion and energy for working in the gaming industry.
  • Strong work ethic and confidentiality a must.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work under time constraints.
