Band 2 Radiotherapy Aide (Chelsea)

The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust has an international reputation for high quality patient care, education and research and its partnership with the Institute of Cancer Research has created the largest comprehensive cancer centre in Europe.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual who thrives on working in a busy patient facing role and who wants to join our friendly and hardworking team of Radiotherapy Aides.

This role is relied on by the radiotherapy team to primarily perform administration, clerical and reception duties as well as ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for the patients attending Radiotherapy. This role also requires you to be an approachable and engaged 'first face' for our patients as appropriate throughout the radiotherapy pathway.

We are looking for an efficient and organised person with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will also be IT literate with an interest in working in a healthcare and technology driven environment. 

Main duties of the job

1.1. To carry out in a responsible and efficient way the provision of reception duties & clerical support to the radiotherapy department.
1.2. Provide patient support as appropriate to assist the patient pathway.
1.3. Be able to work flexible hours to support effective service provision.

Essential criteria

General education to GCSE Grade 4 or above or equivalent GCSE English Language & Mathematics Grade 4 or above or equivalent

Desirable criteria

Level 3 (or higher) education or training

Experience

Essential criteria

Have experience of working in client facing roles Experience of working with computer systems to manage bookings or similar.

Desirable criteria

Evidence of previous admin and clerical roles Experience in hospital environment

Skills/Ability/Knowledge

Ability to use initiative and work with minimal supervision Ability to make decisions, organise and prioritise own workload Evidence of commitment to customer care initiatives Computer literate with associated keyboard skills Demonstrate ability to share information and work collaboratively as part of a team Ability to organise and maintain records Commitment to personal development

Flu Vaccination – What We Expect of our Staff

At The Royal Marsden we have an immune compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold, through to very severe or even fatal disease.

The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the upmost importance to us, and it is the expectation of The Royal Marsden that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
