As a Data Analyst apprentice, you will earn as you learn whilst getting valuable hands-on experience of data structures, big data, and processes and tools for data integration. The type of roles this apprenticeship prepares you for are Data Analyst, Data Manager, Data Scientist, Data Architect, and Data Engineer.�

By the end of the two-year apprenticeship, you will have achieved an industry-standard qualification and developed crucial skills, knowledge and behaviours to progress your career, all while being part of a great team delivering digital applications and services.�

Job description

DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work and make payments worth over �195bn a year to support some of society�s most vulnerable people. Joining DWP Digital, you�ll be part of a diverse, vibrantcommunitywhere you�ll help deliver data led solutions.�

This two-year programme will result in your gaining a Level 4 apprenticeship while working as a Data Analyst. Your role will include collecting, organising and investigating data to provide business insight. You will likely work across a variety of projects, providing technical and data solutions to a range of stakeholders and customers. ��

As well as being given 20% off the job time to allow you to complete your apprenticeship within working hours, you�ll be supported by your line manager, skills coach and DWP Digital�s data community, as well as fellow apprentices on the programme - you will have plenty of sources of encouragement to help you succeed.��

Studying while balancing work and personal commitments will require perseverance and the ability to juggle tasks and priorities. There�s a lot to learn and do, so you need to be proactive, organised, and hard working.

To be eligible for this apprenticeship you are required to hold the following minimum�eligibility criteria:�

Hold a valid passport, birth certificate or residence permit. Have the right to live and work in the UK. Must have lived in the UK and/or EEA for 3 years prior to the apprenticeship start date. Not be in full-time education or be undertaking another apprenticeship by the apprenticeship start date. Not hold a prior qualification at the same or higher level that is similar to the apprenticeship.� The apprenticeship programme content must be materially different to any existing qualification you hold at the same or higher level.� You must be able to develop substantive new skills because of the apprenticeship.� Must hold GCSEs including English and Maths at Grade 4 (equivalent to C) or above, or complete and pass functional skills tests at the beginning of the apprenticeship programme. Must have one of the following:
-� A Level in Maths, Computer Science, Statistics or similar subject.
-� A Level 3 Data Technician or similar L3 apprenticeship.
-� Equivalent qualifications as described above eg - T Level, NVQ, BTEC, International Baccalaureate.
-� Relevant work experience � typically one year in a relevant role that involves analysing, inspecting, transforming or modelling data with the goal of discovering useful information, informing conclusions and supporting decision-making.

Please note -If you are applying on a part-time basis, you are required to do a minimum of 30 hours per week as this role combines work and studies.

Who can start an apprenticeship

To start an apprenticeship, you�ll need to be:

16 or over living in England not in full-time education

You can while you�re still at school but you�ll need to be 16 or over by the end of the summer holidays to start the apprenticeship. Please note if successful you must be 16 or over to undergo the relevant security checks.

Person specification

Essential criteria

You enjoy maths and data and can identify patterns, trends and insights. You enjoy solving puzzles and can find solutions to problems. You are perceptive, logical, detail oriented and organised. You have strong communications skills and can explain technical information in an easily understandable way. You understand the commitment to learning within this two-year course and are willing to study in your own time.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.�

Salary Information

Pay for this role is from �29,500.

Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.
