About the Role

Scientific Beta is seeking a highly experienced Lead Expert in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML) to develop next-generation sustainability and financial metrics. This role involves leveraging language models and insights at the intersection of finance and NLP to create decision-relevant metrics, extracting valuable information from textual data, and collaborating with research and product teams to implement these metrics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of NLP and ML models to extract insights on sustainability and financial performance from textual sources.
  • Apply state-of-the-art language models and integrate academic insights on measure validity.
  • Collaborate with investment science experts to ensure relevance of metrics to investment decisions.
  • Communicate NLP methodologies to non-technical audiences and contribute to research publications.
  • Stay updated on recent academic research in NLP and its applications to finance.

Your Profile

  • Extensive experience applying NLP and ML techniques to real-world problems.
  • Deep understanding of current NLP models and architectures.
  • Strong background in statistical analysis and machine learning methodologies.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Interest in financial concepts and applying statistical analysis to financial data.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with large financial text datasets is advantageous.
  • Advanced degree (MSc or Ph.D.) in Data Science, Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, or related fields with a focus on NLP/ML.
