An exciting opportunity for a Clinical educator to take a lead role Peripheral Intravenous Catheter Associated Infection (PIVCAI) and Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI) Programme across all our hospital sites.

Working with a variety of disciplines the post holder will be ensuring staff provide patients with their dietary requirements that is suitable for their needs.

Educational provision based on audit, research and local data analysis will provide the basis for a 7 month long programme and the postholder will act as a source of expertise, advice and knowledge for healthcare professionals and work in conjunction with educational providers within and outside the Trust to support the education and training needs of staff around PIVCAI & CAUTI and the associated patient safety.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will act as a role model for nursing practice across the Trust, providing clinical nursing advice, education and leadership in relation to Peripheral Intravenous Catheter Associated Infection (PIVCAI) and Catheter Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI) and the associated patient safety. The postholder will act as a source of expertise, advice and knowledge for healthcare professionals and work in conjunction with educational providers within and outside the Trust to support the education and training needs of staff around PIVCAI & CAUTI and the associated patient safety.

The purpose of this fixed team role will be to work closely with each Matron and their ward teams to offer support, training and practical advice on implementing changes and sharing good practice in relation to nutritional safety. The post holder would also audit results of the relevant IPC audits and Datix incidents to identify areas where additional targeted support is required and to respond in a meaningful way, monitoring and auditing progress. It is anticipated that several styles will be used, particularly in the current environment where social distancing is required and the introduction of EPR.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 7 months due to the post being externally funded. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the ongoing source of the external funding and the requirement for the post to be maintained.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

1st Level Registered Nurse with valid NMC or a dietician with current HCPC registration. 1st Level Degree or equivalent qualification/experience. Masters Degree or relevant level 7 qualification or evidence of working towards one. To have completed the national PEAP programme for practice supervisors or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.

Desirable criteria

Evidence of applying current research into practice. PgCert.

Experience

Essential criteria

Relevant experience working in an educational role with evidence of delivering teaching sessions and presentations to a wide audience Extensive Post Registered clinical experience including patient care in a setting in which meals are provided to patients Ability to assess training needs Evidence of developing training programmes, delivering training to a wide audience and evaluation of training Demonstration of strong management / leadership skills and aptitude Experience of change management IT skills, ability to use excel, Powerpoint, software packages Experience of managing audit

Desirable criteria

Experience of introducing safety huddles Expert skills in managing patients with PVC and UC. Understanding of Organisational Mandatory Training Policy and Strategy Knowledge of relevant health & safety legislation Knowledge and experience of a champion role.
