About the role:

To propel our product innovation through the strategic extraction of valuable insights from data, we are seeking a skilled Data Scientist to join our collaborative development team. This role places you at the cutting edge of product evolution, where you will actively engage in the dynamic process of discovery and development alongside our clients. Your mission is to delve deep into client challenges and the expansive solution space, utilizing your expertise in data wrangling, analytical modelling, and machine learning. We invite you to leverage your curiosity and creativity to distil crucial values from raw battery data, contributing to the continuous enhancement of our ground-breaking products.

Responsibilities:

Your Core Responsibilities:

  • Harness the power of raw battery data: Extract valuable insights and translate them into actionable decisions that drive positive outcomes.
  • Bring ideas to life: Champion promising solutions and shepherd them through the entire agile development cycle, from initial concept to full-fledged data and software products that scale effectively.
  • Become a trusted advisor: Collaborate closely with clients, leveraging data-driven approaches to develop solutions that address their specific challenges and unlock new possibilities.
  • Foster a collaborative environment: Work hand-in-hand with Product Management, UX Design, and Engineering teams to continuously analyse the solution landscape and assess the impact of ongoing development initiatives and innovative ideas.
  • Beyond these core responsibilities, you will also have the opportunity to:
  • Lead the charge: Guide fellow battery data scientists in tackling both immediate and long-term data analysis needs.
  • Shape the future: Contribute to the development of cutting-edge battery analytics products, including robust data pipelines and state-of-the-art algorithms for accurate battery health and state estimation.
  • Bridge the gap: Translate complex technical concepts into clear and actionable insights for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Become a strategic thinker: Assist in crafting the long-term roadmap for battery analytics, ensuring Envision Group remains at the forefront of this rapidly evolving field.
  • Think outside the box: Conceptualise and prototype novel algorithms, applying analytical and machine learning methods to unlock the hidden potential within raw battery data.
  • Build valuable relationships: Engage with diverse stakeholders across the organization and beyond, leveraging data to develop solutions that address their unique challenges.
  • Stay ahead of the curve: Partner with Product Development and Engineering teams to continuously analyze the evolving solution space and assess the impact of ongoing development initiatives and innovative ideas.

Qualification and expertise:


  • Fundamental knowledge of battery science.
  • MSc/MEng or PhD in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.
  • Portfolio of projects demonstrating applied machine learning experience.
  • Strong mathematical mindset and ability.
  • Strong coding ability in Python (required) and SQL (desirable). Experience working with one or more of R, Scala and Java will be advantageous.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Strong communication and cross-cultural interpersonal skills.
  • A fast learner, with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
