The Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join theFrontiers for Young Mindsas aJournal Specialist with Arabic.

Your primary responsibility will be to drive and promote top-impact content in Arabic. Your role will be crucial in widening our audience demographic and ensuring that our content is accessible and inclusive to native Arabic speakers.

You will be actively involved in coordination and co-management of all operations and responsibilities within the main, English journal to support wider team initiatives.

You will be reporting directly to theJournal Manager.

As the Journal Specialist responsible forArabic, you will:

Develop and drive high-impact translated content, 

Define, implement, and manage all translation and production workflows to ensure timely and accurate publication of translated articles,

Ensure the reliability and accuracy of all translated content through rigorous editing and proofreading,

Make scientific concepts within our articles approachable and understandable to our young target audience in their language,

Develop and maintain relationships with external translation partners and sponsors, acting as their first point of contact,

Manage language-specific social media channels, promoting translated content to key demographics and fostering collaborations with external stakeholders,

Be actively involved in coordinating and co-managing all operations and responsibilities within the main English journal, supporting wider team initiatives and targets,

Build relationships with VIP Collection Editors, Editorial Boards, and Authors, driving Collection submissions from VIP networks,

Develop and expand the Frontiers for Young Minds portfolio of content and reach, collaborating with synergistic external partners.

Essential Skills:

Mother-tongue/native level in Arabic

Excellent, highly fluent communication in written and spoken English

Prior experience working in a bilingual environment and/or translation/interpreting

Excellent telephone and presentation manner

A degree or higher with a keen interest in science engagement

Strong administration and time management skills

Strong attention to detail

Fluent proficiency with MS Office applications

Flexibility and ability to work as a team member

Clear, effective and confident personal “voice” and ability to adapt to brand tone when writing external-facing content (from social media promotions to emails)

Preferred Skills:

Prior experience of science communication / outreach is an advantage

Related work experience in a commercial or academic environment – experience within a digital publishing or editorial environment would be beneficial

Social media proficiency with proven results in a professional context will be an advantage

Experience with SalesForce and database management would be beneficial

This position offers aflexible, hybrid working model. Journal Specialist – Arabic is expected to work from ourLondon officesemi-regularly.
