Role Purpose:

The IT Graduate is an entry-level position designed for individuals who have recently completed a degree in Information Technology or a related field. The role is intended to provide a comprehensive introduction to the various disciplines in IT within the insurance industry, including but not limited to software development, systems analysis, data analysis and reporting, infrastructure, services, delivery and security. The IT Graduate will work under the supervision of all teams to gain hands-on experience, develop technical skills, and contribute to the organisation's IT projects and operations.

Role and Responsibilites:

Engage in the full software development lifecycle, from initial requirement gathering and design to development, testing, deployment, and maintenance, ensuring adherence to coding standards and project timelines. Perform business analysis to understand and document the functional requirements of software applications, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure solutions align with business needs. Support the architecture and design of software solutions, working with solution architects to understand system frameworks and integration points. Participate in quality assurance processes, including writing and executing test plans, identifying bugs, and verifying fixes to ensure software reliability and performance. Assist with data-related tasks, including data analysis, data science initiatives, data modeling, and the creation of reports and reconciliation processes to support data-driven decision-making. Contribute to infrastructure management, including the setup and maintenance of servers, network configurations, and data center operations, ensuring high availability and performance. Support project delivery by assisting with project management tasks, adhering to governance standards, and providing oversight to ensure project objectives are met. Provide comprehensive services support, including managing helpdesk inquiries, procurement processes, offering both on-site and remote user support, maintaining business applications, and monitoring batch processes. Participate in security operations, including responding to incidents, assessing security risks, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations to safeguard organizational assets. Maintain a proactive approach to professional development by staying informed of the latest technology trends, participating in continuous learning opportunities, and pursuing relevant certifications. Offer general support to the IT department by performing various administrative and technical tasks as assigned by IT leadership, contributing to the smooth and efficient running of the department.

Experience

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, with a strong academic record demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of IT principles. Any relevant work experience in technology.

Skills

Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., JavaScript, C#, Python) and familiarity with software development frameworks and tools.In-depth knowledge of data structures, database design, and SQL, with an aptitude for data analysis and visualization techniques. Solid grasp of networking principles, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and an understanding of network infrastructure components such as switches, routers, and firewalls. Exposure to cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and virtualization technologies.Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts, including threat landscapes, security protocols, and incident response procedures.Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide effective solutions. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to a non-technical audience. A collaborative team player with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing requirements. A commitment to continuous improvement, with a willingness to receive and act upon feedback and a desire to acquire new skills and knowledge.
