About your team: 

You’ll be working centrally within our mission control room, aka Centrica’s group functions. From Finance and Data Science, to our Wellbeing and People teams - this is the engine of our energy system, where our various Centres of Excellence power up each of our brilliant businesses, ensuring they have all the support, technologies, and capabilities they need to get our customers to Net Zero by 2050.

Join Centrica's Innovation Team as anInnovation Developer. You'll transform visionary ideas into tangible prototypes and proof of concepts (POCs), using cutting-edge technologies to address key customer and business challenges. Your role will bridge the gap between theoretical innovation and practical application, supporting Centrica's renewable energy and smart technology initiatives.

Location:Hybrid (home-based with occasional office travel)

Key Responsibilities:

POC Development & Prototyping:Build scalable prototypes and POCs aligned with our sustainable energy goals.

Technical Innovation:Use AI, drones, and robotics to solve complex problems.

Cross-functional Collaboration:Work with Innovation Designers and team members to align technical development with business objectives.

Agile Methodology:Use agile practices to produce high-quality code and facilitate iterative feedback.

Cloud and DevOps Basics:Enhance collaboration and streamline development using cloud platforms and DevOps practices.

Design Skills Application:Contribute to user interface and experience aspects of prototypes.

Knowledge Sharing:Mentor team members and foster a learning environment.

Stakeholder Interaction:Collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements and validate innovations.

Skills and Knowledge:

Development:Experience with JS, CSS, React, Python, Unity/Unreal, AWS or Azure platforms preferable

POC Development:Proven track record of developing prototypes and POCs.

Technical Proficiency:Strong programming skills with various languages and frameworks.

Emerging Technology Experience:Hands-on experience with AI, drones, or robotics.

Cloud and DevOps Understanding:Basic knowledge of cloud services and DevOps principles.

Design Capability:Skills in developing user-friendly interfaces.

Agile Expertise:Proficiency with agile development methodologies.

Innovation Background:Experience in innovation or product teams, with exposure to large organisations and startups (nice to have)
