Job Overview:Our group writes the layer of thedriver that implements the popular GPU compute APIs, such asOpenCL, which provide massively parallel execution of generalpurpose (C-like) code on Mali GPUs, often known as GPGPU (General-purpose computing on graphics processing units). Our many customershave performance-critical GPU compute use cases that includemachine learning (ML), image processing & computer vision (CV),video encoding and decoding. Join us and togetherwe will make GPU compute and Mali a success in our customers hands!##Your new teamYou will join a multifaceted, collaborativeand highly motivated Agile software development team working on theGPU compute drivers for the next generation Mali™ mobile GPUs. Youwill develop with the latest yet-to-be-published Android versionsand will help craft the technologies that the mobile market willsee in years to come. This inclusive multinational development teamis located in a cheerful campus in Cambridge, the technologicalcentre of the UK. ##Responsibilities:We have different teamsthat handle the development, performance analysis and optimisationof the GPU driver. You may be adding new functionality to supportthe latest GPUs, identifying optimisation opportunities to squeezeout that last bit of performance, developing our infrastructure toensure it supports the ever-growing number of benchmarks that werun or working on many other exciting tasks! You will work in aLinux environment, working on Arm-based targets including models,FPGAs and silicon from our partner companies (thereby coveringpast, present and future generations of our designs). As a memberof an Agile team, you will have the chance to try your hand atdifferent aspects of our work. Engineers grow their expertisethrough in-house and externally hosted training, and through peercode reviews. You will be working closely together with ourcommunity of engineering teams across Arm’s European design centresdeveloping technologies for the current and next generations of ArmMali™ GPUs. * Participating in all phases of software development –including design, implementation, testing, code review anddocumentation. * Implementing new features in the driver andorinfrastructure. * Testing and analysing the functionality andperformance of our software. * Performing design and code reviewsfor other team members. * Engaging with the rest of the team forinvestigation, estimation and planning purposes. * Maintaining theexisting codebase: fixing bugs and other quality assuranceactivities. * Promoting and demonstrating the Arm core beliefs andbehaviours. ##Required Skills and Experience :* Experience inC and C++ programming. * An understanding of embedded hardwarearchitectures and software engineering development practices. *Proficiency in problem solving and debugging with a practical,organised and analytical approach to work. * Good interpersonalteam-working skills, self-motivated and results focused. * Goodwritten and spoken English. ##“Nice To Have” Skills andExperience :* Experience of OpenCL, CUDA, or Vulkan. *Experience in scripting with Python and Bash. * Knowledge ofsoftware optimisation, profiling and instrumentation techniques.Experience developing software for Linux or Android based systems.Experience with data analysis and statistics. * Experience withmachine learning. * Knowledge of the internal operation ofcompilers (particularly LLVM), although this is not a compilerrole. * Familiarity with Git, and bug tracking tools. * Experiencein creating design and test specifications and in the creation andmaintenance of test suites. * Automation skills, with exposure toDocker. * Experience with Agile development processes. * Experienceof driver or HAL development. * Working exposure to softwaredevelopment for a commercial organisation. ##In Return:Wehave a strong background of building up expertise in people, sothis is an excellent opportunity to learn something new andinteresting in a friendly and collaborative environment.
