The shift pattern for this position is 9am-5pm 4 days per week, 9am-4:30pm 1 day per week. Service is Monday - Friday

Health Care Support Worker is required for West Dunbartonshire Community Children’s Nursing Team as part of Specialist Children’s Services NHS GG&C. The post holder will support the SCPT Nursing Service to provide an accessible, appropriate, culturally sensitive, safe, person centred and effective service for children, young people and families in the community, by working in partnership with service users, care providers and other agencies. The work will be facilitated, supervised and supported by the SCPT Nursing Team, and post holder is expected to work across all community paediatric nursing pathways in West Dunbartonshire HSCP which includes CCN Home / CCN Additional Support for Learning (ASL) Kilpatrick School, Health for All and Disability Nursing Services. The post holder will be expected to work within the Acorn Centre Paediatric Community and Acute clinics, including Sleep Clinic and Down’s Syndrome Clinic. They will be expected to assist at Immunisation Clinics within Kilpatrick ASL School.

Post holder will be expected to:

carry out home visits carrying out a variety of clinical tasks including phlebotomy.

Post holder will be expected to assist children, young people and families in relevant settings to address health promotion activities that can positively improve health and wellbeing. Be able to accurately report back to SCPT Nursing team following home visits or other patient related work and be able to signpost families to a range of appropriate services to support their needs as identified in care plans.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
