Head of Data Management
London (hybrid 3-2)
Salary up to £150,000 + bonus + healthcare
MBN Solutions have been retained by aLondon based Insurance companywho are investing heavily in their Data function by creating thisHead of Data Managementrole. They want to create significant change within their data function and are looking for a real change maker to join them on this exciting journey. The successful candidate will have full board support in making the changes required.
We are focused on finding someone with Insurance industry experience and ideally someone with London market experience.
The Head of Data Management will be responsible for defining the data management framework under the strategic direction of the Data Steering Group. You will lead the implementation of the data management framework across the organisation and ensure it is appropriately governed.
Through effective collaboration with business stakeholders, including technical and non-technical teams, leading the successful delivery of the following continuous improvement principles of the data strategy:
- Improved data quality and consistency,
- More readily and reliably accessible MI,
- Enhanced data-driven business insights
- Leveraging of digitalisation and automated solutions to achieve greater resource and process efficiencies.
As a newly created role there will be opportunity to influence and define the role responsibilities but some key areas of focus initially are:
- Chair the Data Steering Group
- Development & ownership of the data management framework
- Defining and leading the implementation of the appropriate data provenance and cataloguing processes.
- Own the data strategy roadmap, guiding the delivery of relevant milestones and tooling.
- Be an ambassador of data quality, liaising with all stakeholders to ensure data is of sufficient quality to enhance the opportunities to utilise advanced data tooling.
- Assess business processes across the organisation to recommend and develop appropriate use cases leveraging developing technology (e.g. machine learning) to deliver efficiencies.
This role requires a strong leader who can influence at all levels and is used to operating at Board level. We're looking for a real innovator and change maker so being able to articulate your vision to senior stakeholders is essential as is your ability to think strategically and solve problems.
It's impossible to list all of the skills you will bring to this role but some of the key skills needed for success are:
- Strong change and project management experience.
- Understanding of the principles of data management and analytics and how data is best used to drive business outcomes.
- Understands and can articulate the principles of data provenance and regulations pertaining to data (e.g. GDPR)
- Experience in back-end engineering, traditional B2B product management, internal product management.
- Familiarity with technical data structures, data pipelines and data science techniques, understanding complex systems and ability to work with highly skilled technicians.
