Role Overview:
The Head of Business Development will be responsible for leading Okala’s business growth initiatives, focusing on sales, marketing, strategic partnerships, and client acquisition. This role requires a hands-on, proactive individual with a solid background in business development. You will have a proven track record in revenue generation, customer relationship management, and brand positioning. The position offers the opportunity to shape and scale Okala’s market presence, working closely with internal teams to align strategic objectives with operational execution.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Market Strategy & Business Development:
- Develop and execute comprehensive business development strategies to establish Okala’s brand in target sectors, including forestry, mining, oil & gas, infrastructure, consulting, and NGOs.
- Identify and evaluate new business opportunities, drive client acquisition efforts, and develop proposals to secure strategic projects.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to align business development goals with overall company strategy and vision.
2. Partnerships & Client Relationship Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients and partners, acting as the primary contact for key accounts.
- Lead negotiations, establish partnerships, and create templates and processes to optimize the client journey.
- Analyse client needs and market insights to propose relevant solutions that enhance Okala’s service offerings.
3. Marketing & Brand Positioning:
- Lead Okala’s marketing strategy to enhance visibility and increase brand awareness in key markets.
- Oversee the creation of marketing collateral, campaigns, and an online presence that clearly communicates Okala’s unique value proposition.
- Implement outreach and networking activities to foster market presence in target sectors.
4. Cross-Team Collaboration & Feedback Integration:
- Collaborate closely with Product, Data Science, and Operations teams to ensure business development activities align with Okala’s service offerings.
- Gather and communicate client feedback to inform product development, ensuring continuous improvement of Okala’s solutions.
Requirements:
- Experience:Minimum of 5 years in business development, sales, or a similar role, ideally within sectors such as forestry, mining, oil & gas, or environmental consulting. Experience with large-cap clients, top consulting firms, or NGOs is highly desirable.
- Client Relationship Management:Demonstrated success in building and maintaining client relationships, closing high-value deals, and driving revenue growth.
- Consulting Experience:Experience in the consulting sector is advantageous, as Okala often partners with clients in a subcontractor or strategic partner role.
- Marketing & Communications:Proven ability to manage and develop company communications, including social media presence, web positioning, and marketing campaigns.
- Education:Bachelors or post-graduate degree in Business, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field. Other profiles may be considered based on relevant experience.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in English is required; additional language skills are highly desirable.
General:
- Work Location:Flexibility to work remotely, with regular travel to the Stirling office.
- Travel Requirements:Frequent travel for market development and attendance at conferences may be required.
