Games Data Analyst/Scientist

Salary: Up to £65,000

Location: Oxford (5 days a week in the office/relocation package possible)



COMPANY PROFILE

Join a dynamic team as a Games Data Analyst/Scientist, where you will apply advanced analytics to drive player engagement, optimize game performance, and enhance the overall gaming experience. This role involves executing data-driven projects using agile methodologies to maximize in-game revenue and player retention.



ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Player Behavior Analysis: Develop and refine models to analyze player behavior, including churn prediction, in-game purchasing patterns, and engagement metrics.
  • Game Performance Optimization: Contribute to creating and enhancing algorithms that optimize game mechanics, pricing of in-game items, and other revenue-generating aspects.
  • Model Deployment: Deploy predictive models into production, ensuring that insights are actionable for game designers and developers.
  • Performance Monitoring and Insights: Develop and maintain queries and visualizations to monitor key game metrics, identifying any performance variability and providing actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Deep Dive Analysis: Perform in-depth analysis to illuminate player behavior and recommend improvements to enhance the gaming experience.
  • A/B Testing: Design and assess the results of various split testing experiments to evaluate the impact of new features, pricing changes, and gameplay adjustments on player behavior.
  • Data Governance and Tools: Support the ongoing development of the studio’s data governance practices, BI tools, and technologies, ensuring the integrity and accessibility of data.
  • Market Awareness: Stay informed about the latest trends in gaming analytics, competitor strategies, and emerging technologies to keep our games competitive and innovative.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with game designers, product managers, and other stakeholders to translate game objectives into impactful data-driven insights.



REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Programming and SQL Skills: Proficient in Python or R with strong SQL abilities, particularly in analyzing large-scale gaming data.
  • Analytical Expertise: Excellent analytical and statistical skills, with hands-on experience in predictive modeling, player segmentation, and time series analysis related to gaming.
  • Cloud Platform Experience: Experience with cloud-based analytical platforms like Databricks, Snowflake, and Google BigQuery, particularly in gaming analytics contexts.
  • Commitment to Accuracy: Strong focus on accuracy, attention to detail, and rigor in analysis, ensuring reliable insights that drive game improvements.
  • Data Governance and Quality: Understanding the importance of data governance and maintaining high data quality standards in gaming data models.
  • Curiosity and Commercial Insight: Passionate about gaming challenges, with the ability to extract maximum value from data science through effective storytelling, visual support, and efficient workload management using Jira/Confluence.



SALARY AND BENEFITS

  • Salary range: Up to £65,000.
