DSP Developer (Audio) - Sonnox
Based: Finstock, Oxfordshire
Term: Permanent, Full time
Salary: Negotiable plus benefits
Sonnox is an award-winning audio software company creating innovative plugins and applications used by top professionals and passionate hobbyists worldwide. Our software is used in the most prestigious recording studios, film production houses, and game development companies. As part of the Focusrite Group, we combine a small team atmosphere with the stability and resources of a global leader in music technology.
The Role:
We are looking for a DSP Developer to join our audio software development team, helping to develop new audio algorithms and implement stable, efficient DSP code for our world-renowned products.
We're looking for someone who can demonstrate a deep understanding of audio DSP and have an interest in machine learning. Academic qualifications and professional experience are valuable, but practical knowledge in these fields is essential. It's important to us that you're a keen mathematician, enjoy reading technical papers and love experimenting with new ideas.
Solid programming skills are required for iterating quickly through prototypes and writing production-quality real-time DSP code that is as robust as it is maintainable. We primarily work with C++, but other tools and languages are also used depending on the stage of the project. While your focus will be technical, you'll also play a key role in shaping the future of our products by collaborating with product managers, UX designers, and other engineers, and using user feedback to inform our technical design decisions.
We're a small, close-knit team that thrives on face-to-face communication and collaborative problem solving. Our office is in Finstock, Oxfordshire, and while we primarily work onsite, we understand that circumstances may require some flexibility. Let's discuss your individual needs during the interview process. We believe in quality over speed, and we strive to create a work environment where everyone has the time and space to do their best work.
Now we are focusing on shaping the future of audio production, combining adaptive processing with accessible interfaces.
What you’ll bring:
- DSP Expert: You have deep knowledge and extensive experience in Digital Signal Processing (DSP), and you're driven to apply your expertise to create innovative audio products that people will use and love.
- Creative Problem-Solver: You're a strong analytical thinker who can approach technical challenges with creativity and find effective solutions.
- Team Player: You thrive in collaborative environments and have excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Skilled Software Developer: You're proficient in C++ software development with a solid understanding of object-oriented programming. Experience with scripting languages like Python for prototyping and data analysis is a plus. You're committed to writing clean, maintainable code and following software engineering best practices.
- Audio Enthusiast: You have a passion for music and audio, with some practical experience in the audio industry and an understanding of audio processing concepts. You're driven to create innovative audio tools for musicians and producers.
The following would be advantageous:
- Machine Learning: You have an interest in applying machine learning techniques to audio processing, and any experience in this area would be a plus.
- JUCE Framework: Experience with the JUCE framework or cross-platform audio application development (Windows and macOS) would be beneficial.
- Plugin Formats: You have some familiarity with plugin formats like AAX, AU, and VST3.
- DAW Experience: You’re familiar with popular Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and Cubase.
