Our client is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Director of Engineering to be the first senior technical leader on their team.

This is a hands-on role where youll drive the technical vision, shape the product, and lead the engineering efforts for a groundbreaking platform in the mental health space.

Key Responsibilities: Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor a growing engineering team, setting strategic direction and overseeing day-to-day technical decisions.

Architectural Vision: Design and implement a scalable, secure, and resilient backend architecture that supports the companys growth trajectory.

Hands-on Development: Be actively involved in coding and problem-solving, particularly in backend technologies such as Python, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and gRPC, within a serverless Google Cloud environment.

Problem-Solving: Proactively address challenges around scalability, security, and performance, ensuring the platform adheres to the highest standards of quality.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product and leadership teams to align technical strategies with business goals.

Qualifications: Leadership Experience: Proven experience leading engineering teams and driving technical strategy in a fast-paced, startup environment.

Technical Expertise: Strong expertise in backend development, particularly with Python, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, gRPC, and Google Cloud serverless infrastructure.

Hands-on Approach: Comfortable being hands-on in the codebase while guiding the team through complex technical challenges.

Problem-Solver: Excellent analytical skills with a focus on building scalable, secure, and high-performance systems.

Compensation: Salary up to £150,000 with equity opportunities.
