About the Role

Our Data Intelligence team is made up of six talented professionals who bring a diverse mix of technical and analytical expertise. The team includes two Data Engineers focused on building scalable data pipelines and infrastructure, two Analytics Engineers responsible for crafting reliable, business-aligned datasets, one Data Analysts who works closely with product and customers on their analytics needs, and a Machine Learning Engineer working on internal automation projects.

Working at the intersection of Product, Engineering, QA, and domain leadership across EHS, ESG, and Chemical Safety, this team plays a pivotal role in driving innovation and enabling smarter, data-informed decisions across the company’s products.

As the Director of Data Intelligence, you’ll lead mission-critical initiatives that impact thousands of users across industries striving to protect people and the planet.

Effectively lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing Data Intelligence team, ensuring team engagement, skills growth, and alignment with business priorities.

  • Successfully deliver key initiatives such as the Global Insights platform, AI-based SDS data extraction, and SDS sourcing projects, ensuring measurable business impact and timely execution.
  • Drive innovation through the integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI techniques into core workflows, with measurable improvements in automation, accuracy, or user value.
  • Ensure robust, scalable, and secure data pipelines and infrastructure are in place, meeting defined performance, availability, and governance standards across the data stack.
  • Maintain strong collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Domain Leadership (EHS, ESG, Chemical Safety), delivering quarterly reports and aligning data initiatives with company objectives.
  • Lead and mentor a team of six data professionals (data engineers, ML engineers, analytics engineers, and analysts) to deliver high-quality data solutions.
  • Foster a high-performance culture, ensuring alignment with business objectives and supporting career growth across the team.
  • Define and execute the company-wide Data Intelligence Strategy, incorporating cutting-edge data engineering, analytics, and AI capabilities.
  • Promote and implement AI-driven innovation, including the integration of Large Language Models (LLMs), into product workflows for enhanced data extraction and automation.
  • Oversee the use of Elasticsearch for intelligent search, document retrieval, and unstructured data exploration in core initiatives.
  • Establish and enforce data governance, security, and compliance policies to maintain high standards of data integrity and trust.
  • Champion CI/CD and MLOps practices, ensuring 100% of deployed models follow automated and reproducible deployment standards.
  • Enforce high code quality through peer reviews and documentation standards, aiming for 90%+ compliance.
  • Ensure scalable and efficient data engineering architecture, optimizing data pipelines and storage infrastructure.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with Product, Engineering, and Business Intelligence to maximize the impact of data across all business domains.
  • Partner closely with the CPO, CTO, and domain VPs (EHS, ESG, Chemical Safety) to align strategic data initiatives.
  • Deliver quarterly stakeholder reports highlighting key data achievements, performance metrics, and business value.

What we're looking for:

  • 10+ years inData Engineering, Analytics, or AI/ML roles, with5+ years in leadership positions.
  • Experience inSaaS, Health & Safety, ESG, or Chemical Safety domainsis a plus.
  • Experience working inAgile environments with DevOps, CI/CD, andMLOps pipelines.
  • Experience developing data products and related frameworks, including machine learning in production, data analytics and data platforms
Technical Skills:
  • AI & Machine Learning: Hands-on experience in NLP, AI-based automation, and model deployment (MLflow, AWS SageMaker, or similar).
  • Big Data & Cloud Technologies: Experience with AWS for data lakes, warehousing, and analytics (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks).
  • Deep expertise in data engineering, including pipeline architecture, ETL/ELT design, and data governance frameworks (e.g., Spark, dbt).
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML technologies, including NLP and LLM integration (e.g., GPT, Claude, open-source models) into operational systems.
  • Proficiency in Elasticsearch for intelligent search, document indexing, and retrieval solutions.
  • Business Intelligence & Analytics: Strong background in Power BI, Tableau, or Looker for data visualization and decision support.
  • Data Governance & Compliance: Knowledge of GDPR, CCPA, and enterprise data security best practices.
Leadership and Soft Skills:
  • Strategic Leadership: Proven ability to define and execute a data strategy aligned with business goals.
  • People Management: Experience leading and growing high-performing data teams with coaching and mentoring.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to bridge technical and non-technical teams, aligning data capabilities with business needs.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Management: Strong ability to present complex data insights in an executive-friendly manner.
