An organisation at the cutting edge of microbiome research are keen to bring on-board a Director of Bioinformatics to head up their data science operations as they navigate their clinical phase of development.

This individual will work with a multi-disciplinary team coordinating infrastructure and storage requirements alongside pipeline development through the use of bioinformatics method development and the application of machine learning approaches. The main priority for this position is to lead on the analysis of their key omics datasets from their clinical trials. Please note this is a leadership position with minimal hands-on analysis being done in this role.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and drive strategy across the group, providing leadership to the established team of technically strong individuals
• Lead internally and present externally on developments
• Continue to enhance their world-leading microbiome profiling platform through use of functional analytics, machine learning and transcriptomics
• Lead on analysis of clinical trail datasets

Requirements:

• Extensive track record working across bioinformatics and genomics
• Experience operating in the microbiome space
• Experience analysing clinical trial datasets or large genomic datasets
• Experience in cloud computing, infrastructure and data storage
• Effective people leader with the ability to develop strategy long-term and support a team in continuing to develop cutting-edge advancements
• Experience operating in a biotech environment, contributing to pipeline development

This position will ideally be hybrid, spending 3 days per week at their site in Cambridge. This is a key leadership position for the business, so comes with a competitive package.
