Director of Artificial Intelligence (Centrica Energy)

We trade power, gas, LNG, and energy attributes and connect producers, suppliers and off takers in the wholesale energy markets - and we provide our clients with the best route-to-market services available to the market today with physical and financial settlement approaches. As our new Director of Artificial Intelligence for Centrica Energy, you will be responsible for shaping and implementing our AI strategy to further drive business growth and operational efficiency. You will collaborate across the Centrica Energy business and wider Centrica plc to identify Digitalisation & AI opportunities, define KPIs, develop strategic initiatives, and drive the adoption of AI frameworks across the organisation.

This role will allow you to contribute to the hugely exciting field of Digitalisation & AI and play a pivotal role within our commodity trading business. Your skills and experience will make a direct impact on the success of our business.

The role is based out of our London office (close to Marble Arch) with 3 days per week typically based within the office. There is also a requirement for occasional travel to other Centrica Energy offices (e.g. Denmark (Copenhagen & Aalborg) and this is expected to be once every 1-2 months for approximately a 3-day trip.

About the Role:

Work closely with senior leadership to develop and refine Centrica Energy's Digitalisation & AI strategy in alignment with business objectives and market trends Identify and prioritise Digitalisation & AI opportunities across Centrica Energy conducting a thorough analysis to assess feasibility and impact Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define AI use cases, develop business cases, and secure buy-in for Digitalisation & AI initiatives Lead the planning and execution of Digitalisation & AI projects, and workshops, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery within scope, budget, and timeline Monitor and evaluate the performance of AI initiatives, tracking key metrics/assigned KPIs and providing regular updates to stakeholders Stay informed about the latest developments in AI technology, industry trends, and best practices, incorporating insights into Centrica's Digitalisation & AI strategy and roadmap Champion a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous learning, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing across the organisation Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ethical standards in Digitalisation & AI development and deployment.

About You:

Proven experience in developing and implementing AI/ML/Analytic strategies within commodity trading, financial services, investment banking or similar environment with a track record of driving successful outcomes Understanding of Digitalisation & AI technologies, including machine learning, GenAI, computer vision, and their applications in business Excellent strategic thinking, analytical skills, and business acumen, with the ability to translate Digitalisation & AI concepts into actionable strategies and initiatives Strong project management skills, with experience in managing complex projects from inception to completion Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a proactive and results-oriented approach to problem-solving Commitment to ethical Digitalisation & AI principles and practices, with a focus on fairness, transparency, and accountability Continuous learner mindset, with a passion for staying abreast of the latest developments in AI technology and industry trends Ability to influence and engage colleagues across all Centrica Energy locations.
