An overview of the role:

By 2025 there will be 75 billion connected smart devices globally as a result of technology democratisation, changing consumer expectations and emerging unconventional revenue streams. Connected World serves the needs of clients who are pivoting their product, organisation and business model to address new value pools realised as a result of designing, developing or deploying intelligent physical connected products & systems.

Capgemini Invent is the Strategy, Consulting & Innovation arm of Capgemini group focused on realising client value through the application of high value consulting services. In the case of Connected Products & Services, we are focused on driving client value through the expansion of the following core capabilities: Disruptive Business Advisory, Next-Gen Experiences & Iconic Design, Breakthrough Technology & Engineering, Powerful Data & Insight & Sustainability Embedded by Design.

Although Connected Products & Services is applicable across every industry sector we are specifically recruiting for an experienced Director to lead our growth in Consumer Products.

Why this role?

We are looking for a Director to lead our Consumer Products business, working with clients in a number of subsectors including: Connected Home, Food & Beverage, Beauty & Personal Care, Accessories & Apparel, Sports Equipment, Play & Education, Hobby & Recreation & Live Media & Entertainment. While the IoT is far from new, the connected consumer market is at an inflection point, driven by AI, sustainability, and a shift toward services. Consumers are seeking more seamless, personalised, synthesised, and sustainable connected products and services, creating opportunities for leaders and threats to those behind the curve.

As a Director of Connected Consumer Products & Services in the business you’ll help set the direction, driving forward the business, model our values and behaviours, and coach and develop junior members of the team. Key expectations from this role include:

Define the growth strategy for Connected Products & Services for your aligned Sector (Industry) Understand intimately the market needs and create / tailor offerings that have clear repeatable value to our clients. Work with the Sector Unit teams to develop and execute targeted business development campaigns to grow a pipeline of business aligned to your area of responsibility. Collaborate across all relevant business units in Capgemini to always bring the best to every client situation. Identify investment areas for consulting, hard or soft assets that enable us to create differentiated value and be seen as the driver of innovation to our customers business. Grow and lead your teams responsibly according to business demand while creating a high performing, yet trusted, supportive collaborate environment that attracts and retains the best people. Lead by example and deliver what you sell, create a culture of delivery excellence, and have fun while you are doing it. Consider Sustainability in all of your business activities, from the way we do business through to how our services help clients achieve their environmental objectives. Be opinionated yet respectful, be recognised internally and externally as an expert in your field, create compelling thought leadership to teach, inspire and become the team people seek out to work with.

As part of your role you will also have the opportunity to contribute to the business and your own personal growth, through activities that form part of the following categories:

Business Development – Leading/contributing to proposals, RFPs, bids, proposition development, client pitch contribution, client hosting at events. Internal contribution – Campaign development, internal think-tanks, whitepapers, practice development (operations, recruitment, team events & activities), offering development. Learning & development – Training to support your career development and the skills demand within the company, certifications etc.

We’d love to meet someone with:

Proven background in Consumer Products with a clear understanding of how intelligent, connected products & services bring value to the industry either today or in the future. Well networked to client stakeholders within the industry Has a futurist mindset and has an active interest in emerging technology and market trends. Deep understanding of current industry and client challenges with the ability to clearly articulate business and technology solutions to address Has a technical background, ideally through a combination of Software, Telecoms or Hardware engineering, paired with sufficient commercial acumen to bridge the divide. Currently working in a major Consulting firm, and/or in industry but having a Consulting background Proven ability to be successful in a matrixed organisation, and to enlist support and commitment from peers in selling and delivering consulting solutions. Experience of proposition building and delivery.

Business development– utilising a combination of the organisation’s broader pre-existing relationships, company relationships and your own network, you’ll be generating c.£2mofconsulting revenues (Director)

Whilst you will haveLondon, Manchester or Glasgowas an office base location, you must be fully flexible in terms of assignment location, as these roles may involve periods of time away from home at short notice.

We offer a remuneration package which includes flexible benefits options for you to choose to suit your own personal circumstances and a variable element dependent grade and on company and personal performance.
