Our central data team lives in our tech org and reports to the VP of Data.
In order to strengthen our data maturity and be truly data driven we aremitted to: building a strong data culture where data is treated as an asset empowering our circlers to be highly data fluent and confident self serve users enhancing our world class data platform creating data products across all domains transforming our business with ML & AI What will you be doing? Develop and Implement Machine Learning Models: Design, develop, and deploy robust machine learning models and algorithms to solveplex business problems, with a focus on enhancing various aspects of Funding Circle's operations and decision-making processes. Make use of Generative AI models and services when necessary. Feature Engineering and Data Preprocessing: Engage in feature engineering and data preprocessing activities to ensure the quality and relevance of input data for machine learning models. Implement strategies for handling missing data, outliers, and other data quality issues. Model Evaluation and Optimization: Evaluate the performance of algorithms and models using appropriate metrics and iterate on models to improve performance. Implement optimization techniques to enhance model efficiency and scalability. munication of Results: Effectivelymunicateplex technical concepts and findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Present insights and rmendations in a clear and concise manner to drive informed decision-making. Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing: Actively participate in knowledge sharing within the Machine Learning and AI team and the wider data team, providing mentorship to junior team members and contributing to a collaborative and learning-oriented environment. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other teams within the Data department, as well as across different business units, to understand their needs and provide data-driven solutions. Collaborate with ML engineers, product managers, and domain experts to integrate machine learning and advanced analytics solutions into existing systems. Collaborate with ML Ops and Platform Engineers to help design repeatable ML workflows and tools.
What we're looking for

As a Data Scientist, you will be the most business focused of the three roles in the ML and AI team. In addition to performing R&D, you will support prioritisation of ML initiatives and ensure that ML is used effectively to produce business value. Proven Machine Learning Expertise : Demonstrated experience in developing and deploying machine learning models, with a strong understanding of various algorithms, including supervised and unsupervised learning methods. Additional knowledge of GenAI is an advantage. Software Development Skills : Strong programming experience, ideally in Python. Ability and willingness to work alongside machine learning engineers on the production implementation of algorithms and machine learning models. Experience working on production applications with software developers is an advantage. The role will require working in close contact with production systems, and quality software engineering practices are essential. Data Manipulation, Analysis and Feature Processing : Proficient in data manipulation and analysis using tools like Pandas, Polars, NumPy, and SQL. Ability to work with large-scale datasets and extract meaningful insights. Experience in feature engineering and data preprocessing to optimise input data for machine learning models. Ability to handle data quality issues and outliers effectively. Solid understanding of statistical concepts and techniques for modelling. Problem-Solving Skills : Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address real-world business challenges. Practical and oue driven mindset. Collaborative Team Player : Strong interpersonal andmunication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, both non-technical (domain experts) and highly technical (software, data and platform engineers). Practical mindset with a focus on team oues. Continuous Learning and Adaptability:mitment to staying updated on the latest developments in data science and machine learning.
