Data Scientist (Graduate Role)

An exciting opportunity for a Data Science Graduate to join an expanding data and analytics team for my client located in West Malling Maidstone.

This role offers a graduate Data Scientist the chance to use the skills learned at degree level to build advanced models that have a significant impact within the business. Allowing you to use your own research and expertise to approach a problem and find a solution.

The ideal candidate will be proactive, keen to learn new skills, have a fundamental understanding of multiple programming languages, a problem solver, analytically thinking, with a can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside the rest of the data team to build clean and robust data pipelines.
  
  
• Use the vast amounts of data in the data warehouse to produce machine learning models to help aid in business decisions.
  
  
• To work with the Head of Data and Analytics to understand how AI could be harnessed by the business to improve efficiency.
  
  
• To work alongside the data analysts to carry out ad-hoc data requests when required.
  
  
• Organise the data and model outputs into a format that is readable and understandable for presentation to senior management.
  
  Skills and Experience
  
  
• A degree in computer science (2:1 and above).
  
  
• Strong numerical background with a knowledge of key statistical principals e.g. Bayesian and frequentist statistics, probability distributions.
  
  
• Fundamental understanding of ML algorithms e.g. linear regression, random forest.
  
  
• Experience with multiple programming languages, with a preference for SQL and Python.
  
  
• Ability to interpret and communicate statistical results to non-technical stakeholders.
  
  
• Self-educating, curious and pragmatic, solution-oriented mind-set.
  
  This is a full-time, office-based position - 4 days in the office and 1 day working from home after probation period.
