We are looking for a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our Chief Controls Office Data Analytics team at Barclays. We work collaboratively with stakeholders across the Bank, delivering advanced analytics (including AI/ML) solutions to drive proactive risk management, create measurable business impact and continuously monitor control performance. As a Data Scientist, you will use innovative data analytics and ML/AI techniques to deliver valuable insights, proactively identifying areas of emerging risk, strengthening controls and improving operational efficiency.


To be successful as a Data Scientist, you should have:

  • Experience of developing and delivering GenAI tools to production, including the capability to evaluate model performance.
  • Extensive experience of application of data science and analytics techniques to solve business problems.
  • Production-grade capability in programming languages such as Python and SQL.
  • Capability to partner effectively with senior stakeholders to align expectations, manage delivery, secure buy-in for data science initiatives and convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience leading cross-functional data science projects, managing delivery and mentoring junior colleagues.

Some Other Highly Valued Skills May Include

  • Experience working in a regulatory / audit environment.
  • Experience working with 3rd Party providers of AI solutions.
  • Familiarity with data visualisation techniques.

Purpose of the role

To use innovative data analytics and machine learning techniques to extract valuable insights from the bank's data reserves, leveraging these insights to inform strategic decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and drive innovation across the organisation.


Accountabilities

  • Identification, collection, extraction of data from various sources, including internal and external sources.
  • Performing data cleaning, wrangling, and transformation to ensure its quality and suitability for analysis.
  • Development and maintenance of efficient data pipelines for automated data acquisition and processing.
  • Design and conduct of statistical and machine learning models to analyse patterns, trends, and relationships in the data.
  • Development and implementation of predictive models to forecast future outcomes and identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to seek out opportunities to add value from data through Data Science.
