Job Description

Duration: 9 Months Fixed Term Contract

The Data Science role is responsible for using data science and modeling techniques to address critical questions for the business and customers. This includes understanding challenges related to electric vehicle (EV) adoption, analyzing the impact of rising costs on customer affordability, and identifying data points indicating potential misuse of the Scheme. The role focuses on using data to identify potential misuse of the Motability Scheme.

The postholder will collaborate with key stakeholders to understand requirements for data use in decision-making. Daily tasks include leveraging technical skills to deliver analyses on customer behavior and translating these into actionable insights for the business.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Build machine learning models to predict customer behavior related to scheme misuse, EV transition, and affordability, supporting the business's data-driven transformation.
  2. Provide insights into customer behavior, choices, and preferences using statistical methods such as regression and hypothesis testing.
  3. Create dashboards that tell a story and highlight key insights on customer behavior.
  4. Analyze customer research data using NLP techniques like sentiment analysis and topic modeling.
  5. Educate internal and external stakeholders on modeling processes, assumptions, and methodologies.
  6. Support ad hoc requests for customer insights from the business.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong experience in building machine learning models and applying data science techniques using Python.
  • Data manipulation and statistical analysis experience from various industries.
  • Proven impact of insights and analysis on business decisions.
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and familiarity with cloud platforms such as Snowflake and Sagemaker.
  • Excellent communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences and stakeholder management experience.

Minimum Criteria

  • Degree in applied statistics, data science, mathematics, or related field.
  • Experience with machine learning solving business problems involving structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience with cloud data stores like Snowflake and SQL querying skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
