Responsibilities

  • Researching, developing, and implementing innovative machine learning techniques to Stats Perform's sports data across various sports (e.g., soccer and tennis).
  • Productizing your models alongside engineers and product teams in a quick and efficient way.
  • Presenting your solutions to internal teams to broaden AI proficiency.
  • Providing technical guidance to various teams on the artificial intelligence approaches that our team uses.
  • Identify new AI solutions for emerging problems, create requirements, and outline a roadmap for delivering the project.
  • Support, train, and mentor team members on best machine learning implementation practices.

Qualifications

  • Master's or PhD in data science, computer science, mathematics, statistics or related STEM fields.
  • 3+ years of experience working as a data scientist (or similar role).
  • Expert proficiency of Python and experience using SQL, alongside ML/AI packages (TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost, etc.).
  • Familiarity with statistical (e.g., GLM, GAMs) and deep learning techniques (e.g., neural networks, transformers, diffusion models, etc.).
  • Comfortable designing and creating neural network architectures, tree-based methods, and applying upcoming technologies from scratch. We want you to be the creator of the next generation of AI models from Stats Perform!
  • Experience deploying models in cloud environments (such as AWS/Google Cloud), making models production-ready, and integrating them in end-to-end cloud pipelines. Co-responsible for ensuring the models you have created are performing in a real-world environment.
  • Fluency in English; excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams, and both internal and external stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with sports event and/or tracking data and deep interest in sports, in particular soccer and tennis.
  • Knowledge of the sports analytics landscape and latest research. We want to stay on top of the latest research in the sports world and apply the latest techniques in our projects.
