We are looking for a passionate & experienced Data Scientist to join our growing Balance Sheet Data Science team at YBS, part of the wider Balance Sheet Strategy & Analytics division. About the role You will be a key player in helping design and embed the next generation of our predictive Mortgage models. These models forecast Mortgage customer behaviours and are used across the business to inform both commercial decision making and risk management, helping us drive value for our members. We have a huge range of interesting projects in the pipeline, to feed into financial planning, interest rate and liquidity risk management, and product pricing & evaluation. You will work with other Data Scientists, the Lead Data Scientist and the Senior Manager to help design and deliver the team s plans and strategic priorities. The team is on a journey to advance the team s modelling and analytical capabilities, including the adoption of machine learning. You ll play a key role in developing data science capabilities within the team and driving forward the use of data science techniques in the Society. What you ll do: Playing a key role in the strategic and technical design, build, and monitoring of a suite of predictive statistical models, covering Mortgages customer behaviours Be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of model builds, from scoping and requirements gathering, through to build and governance, and finally deployment and monitoring Providing technical insight on model developments, data science tools and statistical and mathematical techniques Partnering and collaborating with different teams and with senior business stakeholders, to ensure that any development reflects the needs of the business and has stakeholder buy-in About you Essential skills you ll need: Multiple years of experience in all aspects of the data science pipeline from data exploration, feature engineering, model selection and evaluation A theoretical and applied understanding of a broad range of supervised and unsupervised statistical and machine learning techniques such as regression, ensemble tree methods, Time Series forecasting, clustering, etc Expertise of at least one programming language (Python, SQL, etc.) applied to the data science pipeline Great stakeholder engagement skills and a desire to understand business needs Desirable skills you may have: Financial services experience About us At YBS we don t have shareholders, we have members.
