Job Description : London | Full-Time | Senior Engineer


Permutable Technologies is a fast-growing AI company helping the world’s leading financial institutions make smarter decisions through real-time market intelligence and LLM-driven news analytics. We’re entering a critical scale-up phase and are hiring a Senior Engineer to work alongside a talented engineering team, helping us scale product, systems, and team maturity.


This role is for someone who has been through scale-up before and understands how to partner with platform leadership while remaining deeply hands-on. You’ll help turn strong commercial momentum into a robust, scalable engineering foundation.


What You’ll Be Doing


  • Work in close partnership with the Head of Platform to execute on platform strategy and delivery
  • Own and deliver key parts of our core product stack, including real-time APIs, data pipelines, and ML/LLM-powered analytics
  • Act as a senior technical leader within the team—mentoring engineers and setting engineering standards
  • Support customer-facing rollouts with Product and Commercial teams, ensuring production reliability
  • Help improve engineering processes, observability, and system resilience as we scale
  • Stay hands-on while helping the platform function operate more effectively


What You Bring

  • Senior engineering with majority experience in a scale-up or fast-growing start-up
  • Strong backend or platform engineering background (data-intensive systems a plus)
  • Comfortable working alongside a platform lead, contributing to architecture and execution
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading by example
  • Pragmatic decision-maker who balances speed with robustness
  • Bonus: exposure to LLM, Transformers or financial/market data products
