What is the Role: We are seeking an innovative and results-driven Data Engineering Lead to join our newly established AI Centre of Excellence (CoE).

The AI CoE will be responsible for driving and supporting the development and implementation of AI solutions across the business and ensuring alignment with our AI framework and data ethics principles.

As a Data Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for leading the development of data workflows for complex integration projects and ensuring that data structures are appropriate to the objective of the AI solution being deployed.

You will work closely with the Data Scientists to support the timely and safe implementation of AI solutions that are aligned to the bank's strategic objectives and deliver positive customer outcomes, and measurable business value.

We are seeking a Data Engineering Lead who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is passionate about collaboration and excited by the prospect of shaping the future of AIB through AI.

The successful will have strong experience in data engineering and a passion for enabling data-driven decision making and innovation, to support the implementation of AI solutions that deliver measurable value for the business, and better and fairer outcomes for our customers, colleagues and communities.

Key accountabilities; Develops, inspires and motivates a team of highly skilled data engineers across a programme of diverse projects.

Designs, develops, and maintains robust, scalable, and efficient data pipelines and architecture to support AI and machine learning initiatives.

Ensures data integrity, quality, and security across data processes and infrastructure and implements best practices for data governance and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Oversees the integration of diverse data sources, including structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.

Evaluates and implement new tools, technologies, and methodologies to improve data processes and infrastructure.

Drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data quality, efficiency, and reliability.

Minimum Criteria; MSc or PhD in Maths, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent qualification.

Strong leadership and organisation skills, with 4+ years of experience leading, motivating, coaching and inspiring highly skilled data engineers.

Proven experience in designing and implementing large-scale data architectures and pipelines.

Extensive knowledge and understanding of the software development lifecycle and IT change management.

Strong data management, analytical and reporting skills.

Extensive database experience preferably on Teradata or other Databases.

Applies specialist knowledge to effectively manage, review and undertake work in specialist domain area.

Numerical analysis: Applies mathematical principles and concepts to analytical and problem solving challenges.

Demonstrates the ability to evaluate, interpret or present numerical information in multiple forms.

Business Partnership: Establishes working relationships with stakeholders in order to build trust.
