Job Title: Data Engineer

Contract Length: 12 Months

Location: Newcastle


About Us:

Our client is well known dynamic and forward-thinking organisation, seeking a talented Data Engineer to join our team on a 12-month contract. Their mission is to leverage cutting-edge technology and data solutions to drive innovation and improve decision-making.


Role Overview:

As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines. You will work closely with our data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to ensure the efficient flow of data across systems, enabling real-time insights and data-driven decision-making.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines.
  • Develop and optimize ETL processes to ensure data is clean, accurate, and available for analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data from multiple sources.
  • Implement data security and governance practices to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues, ensuring data quality and reliability.
  • Work with cloud-based infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) to deploy and manage data solutions.


Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with ETL frameworks.
  • Experience with big data tools such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Java.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Strong understanding of database systems (SQL, NoSQL, etc.).
  • Knowledge of data security, governance, and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.


Desirable Skills:

  • Familiarity with machine learning pipelines and MLOps.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
