Data Engineer/Architect - West London - Huge Sport Club Brand! - £70-75k & Bonus - London/Hybrid.

Python, SQL, B.I, Kubernetes, PostGreSQL, MongoDB etc.

Need someone from a Digitalised Customer Product based background, such as ticketing (finance, consultancy etc where there is no 'end-user' purchase will not fit here, sorry).

As our client becomes an increasingly data driven organization, the Data & Integration Architect will support this by continuing the evolution of their Cloud based Data Platform; championing it’s use by different business teams in Commercial and Business Operations, establishing governance and oversight of data and ensuring that the data landscape adopts a common language/schema, and that data sources are integrated across all digital platforms.

Reporting to the Head of Architecture & Planning, the role holder will take responsibility for ensuring the Data Platform meets present and future business and technology needs, and to deliver, review and take ownership of associated design blueprints/artefacts which enable that architecture to be built, operated and supported.

Accountabilities:

  • Be responsible for all data architecture and data integration and increase the maturity of how they handle data
  • Be the SME on what data is collected across different platforms, and defining how this data flows from internal and external systems into and out of the Data Platform
  • Provide technical leadership to all levels within the organisation on data architecture and information management
  • Define and communicate the base line and target Data Platform Architecture with supporting artefacts, models, standards and processes which balance the needs of the business and technology and is in line with the architecture principles and guardrails.
  • Define data models to support CRM and Analytics

Qualifications, skills and experience:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant work experience.
  • Hands on experience with the technologies and methodologies used such as:
  • SQL
  • PostGreSQL
  • MongoDB
  • APIs and Microservices
  • Python, Pandas, PyTest
  • Kafka Connect / Streaming Technologies
  • CI/CD
  • Kubernetes / Docker
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following Primary Domains
  • BI, Analytics & Reporting
  • Data Lakehouse, Data Marts & Data Virtualisation
  • Data Mesh & Data Fabric
  • Data Quality, Reference & Meta Data
  • Enterprise Data Models & Data Governance
  • Machine Learning

Skills and Personal Attributes:

  • Ability to maintain a sufficiently deep knowledge of business areas and technology to provide architectural leadership and direction
  • Ability to win the trust, confidence and commitment of senior business and IT stakeholders and to lead their thinking alongside the ability to communicate effectively with employees from all parts of the company
  • Ability to pragmatically balance the demands of delivery projects with the need to maintain the integrity of the target architecture
  • Expected to carry out core accountabilities with minimal level of supervision for complex tasks and no supervision for more routine matters
  • Must have excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and be able to present plans and proposals effectively and be an effective organiser and possess good time management skills
