We have been tasked with recruiting a Principal Data Engineer (remote) for a well-established company in the industry, known for their cutting-edge data solutions. Role Responsibilities: As a Principal Data Engineer, you will be entrusted with overseeing the development of robust data platforms and analytics solutions. Key responsibilities include: - Leading the development of cloud-based data platforms on Azure or AWS, ensuring they meet strategic goals. - Providing technical guidance in IoT analytics, data integration, and migration projects. - Establishing and maintaining rigorous coding standards and development best practices across the organisation. - Implementing efficient ETL processes and designing effective data pipelines. - Ensuring best practices are followed for CI/CD pipelines and source control through a deep understanding of DataOps and DevOps. Essential skills include: - Profound experience with cloud data platforms, particularly Azure or AWS, or substantial on-premise design expertise. - At least five years in a data engineering role or similar IT positions, with extensive experience in data pipeline design. - Strong ability to develop and enforce coding standards, particularly in Python and PySpark. - Expertise in database administration, including query optimisation and indexing. - Proficient with NoSQL databases and knowledgeable in various cloud-based data technologies.
