Data Engineer

Salary - £50,000 - £65,000

Bristol - Hybrid working, 2 days per week onsite

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Software / Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this crucial role, you will support the creation and enhancement of AI/ML-driven data enrichment pipelines and processes. If you possess exceptional Python skills, a creative and innovative mindset, and a strong interest in modern AI/ML systems and models, this opportunity is for you!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Optimise and Develop Robust Pipelines:Continuously evaluate, refine, and enhance the performance of their data enrichment pipelines to ensure they are efficient, reliable, and effective.
  • Data Management:Design and implement robust data cleaning and ingestion processes to support analytical and machine learning models.
  • Collaborative Problem-Solving:Work closely with their team of data scientists to identify, debug, and resolve complex issues, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Develop and Deploy Models:Support the development, training, retraining, monitoring, and deployment of state-of-the-art machine learning models.
  • Stay Ahead of the Curve:Keep abreast of the latest developments and breakthroughs in data processing and AI/ML and apply these innovations to improve their internal processes.
  • Flexible Approach:Our client's engineers frequently collaborate across different roles, allowing for growth and exposure to backend technologies and other areas.



Skills and Qualifications:

  • Educational Background:A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Professional Experience:Minimum of three years of professional experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of success in developing and deploying machine learning models and/or data pipelines.
  • Technical Proficiency:Strong proficiency in Python, with experience in either PySpark or Pandas, is essential.
  • Software Engineering Knowledge:Knowledge of modern software engineering techniques, including best practises in coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Analytical Skills:Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in resolving data quality issues and improving model/data processing performance.
  • Creative Solutions:Proven ability to think creatively and deliver innovative solutions independently.



Desirable Qualifications:

  • Production ML Experience:Hands-on experience in deploying and maintaining machine learning models in production environments.
  • Advanced Techniques:Experience with gradient boosting techniques and massive text embedding models.
  • Tool Proficiency:Experience with Databricks, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and advanced software testing approaches.
  • ML Expertise:Deep understanding of machine learning techniques and approaches, ensuring the application of best practises in model development.
