Data Architect - Flexible location 

Bibby Financial Services have an exciting opportunity available for a Data Architect to join our team, working in any of our UK locations with travel to Banbury required when necessary. You will join us on a full time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £80,000 – £100,000 per annum.

As BFS’s Data Architect, you will take time to understand how our business works and its aims to ensure you can translate that into the correct architecture to underpin that dataverse can produce the insight necessary to contribute to sustained growth of BFS business units domestically and internationally.

You will work closely with the Senior Data Developer, Data Product Manager and other BFS Architects to ensure we deliver a cohesive technical architecture, whilst maintaining a day-to-day understanding of how our data practice is functioning.

Your key duties as our Data Architect will include:

Develop a deep understanding of the BFS Business model and products in order to provide insightful leadership on the data models necessary to optimise value and opportunity.

Design and implement effective data solutions and models to meet business requirements and realise the BFS Data Strategy.

Ensure the scalability, performance, and reliability of data systems and infrastructure.

Examine and identify database structural necessities by evaluating client operations, applications, and programming.

Assess database implementation procedures to ensure compliance with internal and external governance regulations.

Prepare accurate database design and architecture reports for management and executive teams.

Support the planning, impact analysis, and scheduling of migrations from legacy data systems to new solutions.

Monitor system performance by performing regular tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new features.

Collaborate with the Digital teams and application teams to find optimal solutions for delivering data use cases through current and augmented technologies.

Stay informed about emerging data technologies and best practices.

Work with Procurement and the business to identify and select the most appropriate technology to meet data demands.

Recommend solutions to improve new and existing database systems.

Educate, inspire and influence business stakeholders through presentations training and individual support.

Offer timely support in response to system problems.

Actively participate as a member of the Architectural Design Board.

What we are looking for in our ideal Data Architect:

Proven experience as a Data Architect, Data Scientist, Data Analyst, or similar role.

Microsoft BI Stack expert proven to deliver fast-paced releases. You will have worked with the latest Azure data platform technologies, particularly Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage and Azure Databricks.

Hands on experience of working in Databricks. In particular design and usage of the Delta Lake storage format.

Hands-on experience of working in a Scrum environment. You will be familiar with source control repositories such as git to help manage the codebase.

In-depth understanding of database structure principles as well as experience with the build and maintenance of a Lakehouse.

Expertise in SQL, SPARK and Python

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
