About the Role 

As the Data Analyst, you will play a crucial role in driving our data analytics capabilities and providing actionable insights to guide strategic decisions and operational processes. You'll work autonomously to analyse complex datasets, create sophisticated data models, and develop comprehensive Power BI solutions that not only report on but also actively shape our operational workflows. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the data analysis function within our growing company and contribute significantly to our data-driven strategy in the FMCG and omni-channel retail space. 

  

Key Responsibilities 

Data Analytics, Reporting, and Operational Process Integration: 

- Spearhead the development of our data analytics capabilities to support analysis and operational processes across our product lines 

- Design, build, and maintain comprehensive Power BI dashboards that serve dual purposes: 

  1. Reporting and analysis, ensuring they meet the needs of various stakeholders 

  2. Facilitating and streamlining operational processes, integrating data-driven decision points into daily workflows 

- Create and implement advanced data models to support the Power BI dashboards and other analytical needs specific to FMCG and omni-channel retail operations 

- Conduct complex data analysis to uncover insights and drive both strategic business decisions and operational efficiencies 

- Create predictive models and scenarios for planning, forecasting, and real-time operational decision-making, taking into account market trends in FMCG and omni-channel retail 

- Continuously improve and expand our suite of Power BI dashboards to enhance data visualisation, decision-making capabilities, and operational process integration 

- Collaborate with operational teams to identify opportunities for data-driven process improvements and implement these through Power BI solutions 

  

Data Analysis and Management: 

- Lead data analysis efforts, including data mining, predictive modelling, and reporting for our brands 

- Develop and implement data models to support strategic decision-making and operational excellence 

- Analyse trends, customer behaviour, and market dynamics specific to FMCG and omni-channel retail 

- Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards 

- Provide actionable data-driven insights and recommendations to senior management to drive growth and operational efficiency 

  

Data Quality and Governance: 

- Lead data tagging and cleansing initiatives to ensure high-quality, consistent data across all systems and operational processes 

- Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures that support both analytical and operational needs 

- Identify data gaps in operational processes and lead initiatives to enhance data collection and integration 

- Collaborate with teams to implement data quality improvements and promote a data-driven culture across all operational areas 

  

Leadership and Collaboration: 

- Collaborate with department heads to understand their data needs and develop appropriate data solutions and reports that enhance operational efficiency 

- Coordinate with our IT partner to ensure data systems meet our analytical and operational needs 

- Drive the adoption of data-driven decision-making across the organisation, leveraging data insights in FMCG and omni-channel retail contexts 

- Identify and implement process improvements and new technologies to enhance data analysis, reporting, and operational workflows 

- You will report directly to the CEO and have input on key business shaping decisions 

  

Requirements  

- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field; Master's degree preferred 

- Certifications in data analysis or business intelligence (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate) are highly valuable 

- 5+ years of experience in data analysis, with a strong focus on business intelligence and operational process improvement in FMCG or omni-channel retail 

- Proven track record in leading data analysis initiatives and developing data-driven insights that drive operational efficiencies 

- Advanced skills in data modelling and analysis, with a focus on operational applications 

- Expert proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, data modelling, and dashboard design, particularly in creating solutions that support operational processes 

- Advanced Excel skills 

- Experience in building and maintaining complex Power BI dashboards for reporting, analysis, and operational workflow support 

- Strong understanding of data analytics techniques and their application to business problems and operational challenges in FMCG and omni-channel retail 

- Experience in coordinating cross-functional projects that bridge analytics and operations 

- Proven ability to work autonomously and drive complex analytical projects from conception to completion, with a focus on operational impact 

- Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking skills 

- Outstanding communication skills, able to convey complex data concepts to diverse audiences through data visualisation and relate them to operational contexts 

- Demonstrated commercial acumen and ability to influence decision-making through analysis, particularly in operational settings 

  

Nice-to-Have 

- Experience with database management and data architecture, including structured and unstructured databases (e.g., MongoDB) 

- Knowledge of data security best practices in operational environments 

- Familiarity with cloud-based data storage and analytics solutions 

- Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, R) for advanced data analysis, automation, and operational process integration 

- Experience with data tagging and metadata management in operational contexts 

- Familiarity with data governance frameworks and best practices, particularly as they relate to operational data
