Job Role:Systems Lead
Location:Oxford / London (3 days a week on-site)
The Client:
We're partnering with a highly funded AI research company, poised to build the largest and most advanced AI team in Europe in the coming years. The Role:
They are looking for their first Systems Leader and are open to candidates from a mixture of backgrounds ranging from start-ups to big-tech. This person will take charge of designing, implementing, and maintaining complex technical infrastructure, providing technical leadership, and driving strategic technology initiatives. This is a pivotal hire, and they are searching for someone who can set the tone for their software direction and make a lasting impact.
This role requires a combination of advanced technical expertise, architectural thinking, and strong leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, lead and mentor cross-organisation systems engineering team
  • Manage and coordinate complex infrastructure projects from conception to implementation
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance system capabilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business objectives
  • Perform root cause analysis for system incidents and develop preventative strategies
  • Ensure compliance with security protocols and industry standards

Technical Skills:

  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms (Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure or Google Cloud)
  • Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Experience with containerisation and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker)
  • Robust understanding of network infrastructure and security principles
  • Experience with data management and transformation systems (Databricks, Apache Airflow, Oracle Data Lakehouse, BigQuery)
  • Strong software engineering skills
  • Familiarity with Federated Learning (Desirable)
  • Familiarity with Data Sovereignty (Desirable)
