The successful candidate will lead the development and optimisation of credit risk models and strategies using advanced analytics and bureau data. They will play a key role in informing underwriting decisions and driving performance through data-led insights and experimentation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background with hands-on experience in credit risk, data modelling and statistical programming. They will be confident working with large datasets and credit bureau data, and able to communicate complex insights clearly to support strategic decision-making.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Bring extensive hands-on experience with credit scores and scorecards, including the development, validation and monitoring of both custom and bureau-based models

  • Work with credit bureau data such as TransUnion and Experian to support credit strategy development, model improvements and risk segmentation

  • Design and implement advanced statistical models to assess credit risk, optimise credit scoring and improve underwriting strategies

  • Develop and maintain predictive models such as Probability of Default to forecast customer behaviour and inform credit decisions

  • Carry out exploratory data analysis and data cleaning to ensure high-quality data inputs for model development

  • Lead A/B testing and controlled experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of credit strategies and policy changes

  • Translate complex data insights into clear, actionable recommendations for a range of stakeholders through concise presentations

    Skills and Experience

  • A degree in a relevant subject such as Data Science, Statistics, Economics or a similar discipline

  • Demonstrable experience in the Financial Services industry

  • Experience working with large and complex data sets in a commercial environment

  • Proficiency in Python, R, SQL or other programming languages used for data analysis and modelling

  • Strong proficiency in Excel for data manipulation and reporting

  • The ability to communicate technical insights clearly and effectively to non-technical audiences

  • A detail-oriented and process-driven approach with a focus on continuous improvement

  • Confidence working in a fast-paced and evolving environment

  • Experience working with credit bureau data such as TransUnion or Experian

  • Familiarity with Salesforce and data visualisation tools such as Power BI or Tableau
