Day to day you’ll aid in the development and maintenance of a surveillance framework that meets Drax’s regulatory obligations to monitor trade and order activities for market abuse and facilitate with advisory and assurance compliance activities across the group’s trading and generation businesses. Using your trade surveillance system experience you will investigate alerts and calibrate abuse patterns, and feed this information to the business as required. You’ll provide support in the development and maintenance of an effective compliance framework that meets Drax’s regulatory, industry codes and generation licence obligations, protecting the business against regulatory sanctions and reputational risk to preserve Drax’s licence to operate. You’ll demonstrate an understanding of energy/financial wholesale markets and will increase your knowledge in the regulated risks associated with Energy Market regulatory framework, including but not limited to REMIT, MAR, MiFID II, EMIR, TCLC, S&P and FSMA/RAO. Your negotiation and communication skills will be key to success in this role, working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders throughout the business, including Generation, IT, Treasury, Trading & support functions, building trust, confidence and respect whilst challenging the status quo. Experience using the Scila system would be ideal, however we are more interested in your Data Analytics experience and ability to model and understand complex data sets and identify solutions to data queries! In a varying and fast-paced environment, you’ll also be involved in investigations, including large volumes of data gathering, complex analysis, conducting interviews, developing/presenting conclusions and recommendations to management.
