Our backend architecture is abstracted to modularly offer deep analytics capabilities that are leveraged in the solutions that we offer or can be directly embedded in our client’s system topologies.

Graduate Scheme:This graduate scheme is designed for recent graduates of engineering & sciences schools in order to equip them with the knowledge, skills, and experience to thrive in the dynamic world of commercial shipping and the data behind it. Over a period of approximately 18 months, you'll gain a well-rounded understanding of the industry, develop technical expertise, and learn the ropes of sales and client success management.

Structure:The program is divided into five stages, providing a structured learning journey with hands-on experience. You will embark on a nine-month rotational program where you'll be embedded within three distinct roles. This immersive experience will provide you with a deeper understanding of all aspects of Signal’s commercial operations. The graduate scheme will be supervised by the SVP of Sales and the day to day supervision will rotate across the various team leaders involved.

Stage 1: Academies and API Tech Sales Support (6-8 months)

You will do our three inhouse academies combined with working with our Data Sales team. 

Academies: 

Tanker Chartering Academy: Gain a foundational understanding of the commercial shipping industry. It is a fast-paced overview of the Commercial function. The training includes all the basics about shipping and is accompanied by introductory videos, live sessions and quizzes covering all shipping functions. Product Rotation Academy: Learn about the Signal’s product offerings, you will have the opportunity to dive into the Signal tech world, by understanding the business background, the scope, key actions and the data flow for each product team and the interconnection between them. Tech Sales Academy: Develop strong commercial acumen, covering areas like landing new sales, onboarding new clients, clients trainings, collections & invoicing, Salesfroce, pricing list, renewals & upselling. 

API Tech Sales tasks, with optional international placement for 1-2 months: 

Work alongside our data sales team to leverage Python SDKs and SQL to create valuable assets.

Develop case studies showcasing the power of Signal’s APIs in tackling real-world challenges in the shipping industry.

Focus areas may include global oil and dry bulk flow analysis, port congestion insights, and global vessel supply visualization.

Tools: JIRA, Grafana, Confluence, Google Colab, PowerBI, Azure Data Studio

Stage 2: Customer success (3-6 months)

Immerse yourself in a fast-paced client success environment, directly addressing client inquiries across all aspects of Signal Group's products. Hone your communication and problem-solving skills while building a deep understanding of customer needs and pain points.Tools:Intercom, Full Story, JIRA, Salesforce

Stage 3: Become embedded in the Analytics team (2-4 months)

Work alongside our Analytics team, supporting generation of Powerbi reports  Working with Signal’s best in class Data Warehouse solution  Tools: PowerBI, Google Colab

Stage 4: Graduate Scheme program completion and next steps 

Upon successful completion of the graduate program, we will offer you a position within either our commercial or product team, depending on your aspirations, strengths, and our current business needs. The two career paths that are currently envisioned:

Member of the international commercial team in a Sales, Client Success, Technical Sales or other role

Member of the Product Integration/Liaison team

Requirements

Studies in Electrical and Computer Engineering:A solid knowledge in these fields is crucial. You'll be able to grasp the complex technology behind our platform. Exceptional English Communication (Written & Verbal):Given the global nature of our business, flawless English communication is paramount. Passion for Learning the Shipping & Commodities Industry:Demonstrate a genuine interest in the intricacies of this dynamic field. Research current trends, delve into the challenges and opportunities, and showcase your eagerness to contribute.Problem-Solving Aptitude:The ability to identify and solve technical issues related to onboard users is essential.
