NHS Glasgow Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is the largest NHS Health Organisation in Scotland providing acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of 1.3 million plus providing specialist regional and national services to more than half of Scotland’s population. The geographical area covered is diverse; encompassing 6 HSCPs and with an annual revenue budget of c £4.4 billion and a capital budget of £98m.

The North Sector incorporates three sites covering Glasgow and its neighbouring areas from within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. The North Sector provides a whole range of inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services to residents in the north and east of the city. The North Sector Management Team is responsible for approximately 1,000 beds at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI), which has an Emergency Department, Acute Receiving Unit, Critical Care, and Theatre facilities. The Sector includes Stobhill Hospital, which includes a Minor Injuries Unit, Day Surgery, and various outpatient services and Lightburn Hospital which has approximately 60 beds and focuses on elderly care and rehabilitation services. The North Sector employs circa 2600 nursing staff across their sites, including 15 Lead Nurses who report via the Clinical Service Manager/General Manager structure and an excess of 150 clinical nurse specialists and practitioners across the 3 sites

The Clyde Sector was formed in summer 2015 and has responsibility for the delivery of a wide variety of Clinical Services. The Sector incorporates three sites covering Paisley, Inverclyde and Alexandria from within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. Services are also provided to patients from neighbouring Health Boards – notably residents of north Ayrshire and Cowal & Bute. The Sector Management Team are responsible for 626 beds at the Royal Alexandra Hospital which has an Emergency Department & Acute Receiving Unit, Critical Care and Theatre facilities. The Sector has 277 beds at Inverclyde Royal Hospital (IRH), which again has an Emergency Department and Acute Receiving Unit, Critical Care and Theatre facilities. The Vale of Leven Hospital (VOL) has 80 beds, Minor injury unit and Medical Assessment Unit and Day surgery facilities. The Sector manages a number of Board wide services across the Acute Division including Dermatology and Acute Palliative care. Clyde Sector has circa 2200 nursing staff working across their sites.

The Roles

We are looking to appoint 2 enthusiastic, dynamic and innovative individuals to support nursing leadership at a senior level across North and Clyde Sectors. You will inspire others and lead by example, promoting a culture of continuous quality improvement which values continuous professional development and strives for excellence in all aspects of the delivery of patient care. As well as a real focus on nursing and quality, the post holder will work with the other members of the senior team to deliver our financial, performance and staff governance agendas.

As a registered nurse with valid current NMS registration and a first degree and post graduate Master’s Degree, or equivalent experience, you will have management experience in the NHS or another complex multidisciplinary public or private sector organisation. We are also looking for strong influencing and leadership qualities and a track record of success in delivery and collaborative working.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
