We have a vacancy for an experienced administrator to lead the administrative support for the UKRI funded Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in the Application of Artificial Intelligence to the study of Environmental Risks (AI4ER). The person appointed will manage the course communications, support systems and processes to ensure the successful delivery of the programme.

AI4ER is a multidisciplinary, interdepartmental Masters and PhD programme designed to train the next generation of future leaders to tackle global climate challenges using AI. The programme is partnered with the British Antarctic Survey and fifteen departments across the University including: Applied Maths and Theoretical Physics, Archaeology & Anthropology, Architecture, Chemistry, Computer Science and Technology, Earth Sciences, Engineering, Geography, Land Economy, Plant Sciences, Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics and Zoology, along with the Laboratory for Scientific Computing and Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. The role holder will need to interact with graduate administrators and other relevant staff in each of these departments in addition to the members of the CDT leadership team, the supervisors of individual students and the students themselves.

The CDT has funded 51 PhD students over the past 5 years. All students have completed a Master's of Research with the Dept of Earth Sciences in their first year before embarking on a 3 year PhD at the start of their second year in Cambridge. The role holder will play a central role in training, events and monitoring progress of the PhD students on the programme.

Applicants should enjoy working flexibly as part of a team but also be able to work independently with minimum supervision, taking responsibility and initiative where required, and also have the ability to prioritise and comfortably adapt to changing circumstances and requirements.

The successful applicant will need to be well organised, able to work to deadlines at critical times and will have to communicate confidently with both senior academic staff and administrative staff in each of the departments. Excellent communication skills are therefore required, alongside administrative experience in a Higher Education environment, with demonstrable knowledge of course administration.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 September 2027 in the first instance.

The University actively supports equality, diversity and inclusion and encourages applications from all sections of society.
