We are a fast-growing global reinsurance speciality company servicing the insurance markets of Lloyd’s, Europe and North America.
 
Due to growth, our Head of Analytics is looking for our first BI Manager to manage a small team of BI Analysts in developing our BI capability in line with our approved data strategy.
 
This is a brand new position, and would suit an established technical manager keen to make a stronger impact in a dynamic, high-growth environment or an experienced analyst looking for the next step in their career.

Responsibilities

• Define BI strategy and roadmap, aligning BI priorities with organizational goals and identifying future BI capabilities
• Manage the day-to-day operations of the BI team, including project planning and continuous improvement initiatives 
• Ensure that BI solutions adhere to data privacy and security best practices
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their decision-making needs
• Provide data-driven recommendations to support strategic and operational decisions
• Communicate analysis results and insights effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Identify opportunities to streamline and automate reporting and analytical processes
• Implement processes to validate and ensure data quality, accuracy and consistency within BI outputs
• Implement version control and documentation best practices for data and BI assets
• Identify opportunities to enhance data quality, integrity and accessibility
• Champion the adoption of BI tools and self-service capabilities within the organization 
• Collaborate on other analytics and data science projects as needed
• Share best practices, techniques, and learnings with the broader data & analytics team
• Research and evaluate new BI tools, technologies and techniques to enhance capabilities


Candidate requirements

• Right to work in this location
• 5+ years of experience managing and leading BI/analytics teams
• Excellent project management and stakeholder management skills
• Insurance industry experience, preferably in claims
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to extract meaningful insights from complex data
• Strong stakeholder management and communication
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into effective BI solutions
• Proficient in SQL, data modelling and BI reporting/visualization tools (e.g. Power BI) 
• Proficient with Azure tools (ADF, Databricks) and Python 
• Strong working knowledge of BI tools, data modelling and data visualization techniques
• Experience in driving BI platform optimization and continuous improvement
• Experience of Agile/Scrum methodologies and project management frameworks
• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
• Continuous learning mindset and interest in staying up to date with industry trends
• Understanding of data governance principles and best practices 
• Contributing positively to our culture and values.
