Supported and funded by our Board, we are strengthening our senior digital leadership team and have created a Deputy Chief Information Officer (DCIO) who with the CIO will drive this important agenda forward.

Our newly formed structure will allow you as the successful candidate to develop and influence the Trusts information management and technology strategy.

Main duties of the job

The maintenance portfolio will see you lead, manage, and develop the IT Services Build teams, driving a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement in turn supporting the Trusts strategic objectives, including the adoption of new and emerging technologies.

Success will see you optimise the utilisation of IT resources, including hardware, software, and personnel, ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficiency.

This pivotal opportunity will shape the Trusts digital future, ensuring that digital health solutions are designed and delivered to meet the needs of patients and staff.

As a creative and inspiring leader whos not afraid to push the boundaries technology offers, you will instil confidence in the 800 strong team in the day-to-day operational management of our digital services.

Person SpecificationQualifications

  • Educated to masters level, an equivalent professional qualification, or demonstrable equivalent experience, within an IT discipline or similar.
  • Demonstrable professional knowledge in Software Development Lifecycle, Digital Management, Information Systems, Staff Management, and Project Management acquired through training or experience gained over a significant period to masters degree level.
  • Member of BCS

Experience

  • Extensive experience of software development and software development life cycle particularly in the creating and overseeing developments within large and complex organisations.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of Enterprise Architecture within large and complex organisations.
  • Experience in developing and implementing information strategies and leading digital transformation initiatives.
  • Proven ability to manage complex information systems and ensure data quality, security, and compliance.
  • Experience and understanding of healthcare information systems, electronic health records (EHR), and health information exchanges (HIE).
  • Strong understanding of healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) and interoperability challenges.
  • Experience with information governance, risk management, and compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Deep understanding of healthcare information systems, data structures, and data management principles.
  • Knowledge of information governance frameworks, data privacy regulations, and cybersecurity best practices in healthcare.
  • Familiarity with data analytics, business intelligence, and the application of data insights to improve healthcare outcomes.
  • Extensive experience in information management, data governance, and health informatics within a large NHS or comparable healthcare setting.
  • Highly specialised relevant and in-depth knowledge and experience of Enterprise Architecture and IT functionalities in the NHS or other Public Sector Organisation.
  • Experience of implementing large scale EHR/PAS applications.
  • Proven record of delivering high quality IT services within the NHS to both clinical and non-clinical users.
  • Demonstrable senior fiscal management experience for large and multiple IT departments.
  • Experience of representing an NHS organisation at regional and national meetings.
