As an Associate Data Scientist, you’ll be joining a team of experts in Data Science and Software engineering within Quantexa’s Graph Data Science team. The team is continuously working on new and innovative products, helping our Tier 1 clients solve engineering and business problems in the area of fraud, compliance and financial crime. In particular, the team focusses on using graphs (connected views of our data) to add context to our decision making. This includes the use of Knowledge Graphs; Graph Machine Learning and Graph analysis.

You'll be involved in:

    • Building analytics tools to detect risk and opportunities in Quantexa data
    • Building analytical pipelines for solving graph problems
    • Improving our analytical tooling to help with tasks such as statistical analysis, reporting.
    • Developing and improving on existing/new methodologies with a focus on ease of use and re-usability.
    • Understanding common pain points on client deliveries and working to resolve these.
    • Working with an expert team to deliver the products end to end up to general availability

Requirements

What you’ll bring. 

    • Demonstrated aptitude, potential, and ambition to grow in the field of data science. 
    • Experience in building a machine learning model from scratch, with the ability to present and explain the process and decision-making steps. 
    • Academic background in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or Computer Science (or related field), ideally with a 2:1 or First-class degree. 
    • Proficiency in Python (or similarly complex programming language), which is the primary programming language used. 

Nice to have.

    • Strong preference for candidates who have pursued data science personal projects or learning in their own time, demonstrating initiative and passion for the field of Data Science. 
    • A basic understanding of graph theory and its main use cases. 
    • Scala / Java 
    • Experience using AI as a coding assistant (note this isn’t an AI engineering role, but AI is used frequently within our work) 
    • Experience in using graph libraries in python (or similar languages) e.g. NetworkX / igraph 
    • An interest in software / data engineering 
    • Experience with spark (either pyspark or the scala API)
