Position summary

Generative AI is transforming financial services, offering unprecedented opportunities for optimisation, enhanced decision-making, growth and new revenue streams. A dynamic Gen AI system design and development capability is crucial for realising this potential and gaining a competitive advantage. The Artificial Intelligence SME is part of a multidisciplinary group of data scientists and engineers that bring the value of AI to our clients and our own organisation.


Developing our consultants to be AI experts and leading AI projects that put our clients at the cutting edge of generative AI capability is key to the role. You will provide technical leadership on responsible AI governance, use of commercial AI applications and core development of AI enhanced services and SaaS products. Helping to keep the wider organisation informed about progress, advances in AI, and the future of automation technology is all part of the job.


Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership and Engagement
  • Be the leading AI technical specialist at 4most, supporting a wide range of clients, consultants, engineers, commercial colleagues and support staff.
  • Providing technical and project guidance, hands‑on problem solving, developing of pioneering AI systems and inspiring others through internal and external talks and publications.
  • Working closely with 4most leadership and the AI & Engineering Group to set and evolve the strategic direction of the organisation regarding generative AI.
  • Designing and promoting good practice in AI system design and implementation focussing on reproducibility, resilience, performance and cost.

Strategic Thinking
  • Design, implement and evolve the AI services and products ensuring 4most are a forward thinking, tech first organisation in a rapidly changing world.
  • Develop a forward‑looking approach to supporting clients with their AI related needs, future proofing 4most's service and product offerings to meet emerging client demand.
  • Support 4most's AI strategy by developing the best AI enhanced products and systems for 4most and their clients.

Operational Responsibilities
  • Undertake design and hands‑on development of AI systems for both client and internal projects.
  • Maintain and evolve 4most's AI services and product offerings in collaboration with our Commercial AI & Engineering Group leads.
  • Facilitate the education and awareness of 4most consultant pool regarding AI, engineering & associated technology and ways of working.
  • Regularly support technical pre‑sales meetings with clients and help them unlock the value in their business through practical application of AI.
  • Act as an AI expert in internal and external forums to support 4most and its clients.

Communication and Influence
  • Promote and build the reputation of 4most as an informed, effective and delivery focused provider of cutting‑edge AI.
  • Represent 4most at events, within industry or public bodies to develop the commercial and learning opportunities of the organisation.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to address issues and opportunities for consultants, promoting a culture of collaboration and mutual support.

Experience and Required Skills
  • Between 2 and 4 years of proven, hands‑on experience designing and implementing AI or automation projects and products which have demonstrable impact on value and organisational performance.
  • Ph.D. or Master's in Computer Science or related STEM field.
  • Proven expertise in NLP, LLMs, AI agents and knowledge of ML and Deep Learning techniques.
  • Experience of working in AI/MLOps driven environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration across functions, working seamlessly with product, engineering, IT and commercial teams. Complimented by a toolset that supports this e.g. product management tools such as GitHub, Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence etc.
  • Solid engineering experience backed up with experience of working in a tech first, DevOps, Cloud, CI/CD & infrastructure as code (IAC) driven team that knows the value of high standards of design, development and coding from the initiation of the project.
  • Proven track record of actively executing tasks and driving projects to completion, focussing on completed deliveries for real value as opposed to experimentation and PoCs.
  • Skilled in partnering with clients, technologists and your peers to bring AI ideas to life.
  • Ability to explain and champion complex AI and agentic concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Expertise in Python and at least one other AI/ML development or data related language is required.
  • Experience with Databricks is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Azure or AWS is desirable.
