Salary: £36,636 - £43,482 (+ £5,000 training allowance)

This is an excellent opportunity for an artificial intelligence (AI) engineer to fast-track their career by leading a strategically important and potentially highly impact project. The role will suit applicants from a strong technical AI background who have a strong interest in business, finance, and commercialisation.

Through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), the successful AI engineer will work with VFD Pro Limited and the University of Southampton Business School's FinTech and AI experts to embed and commercialise AI platforms, algorithms, and tools critical to VFD's vision of an enhanced customer offering. This is a largely remote position with the AI engineer being required to attend an in-person meeting in Portchester, Hampshire at least once a month (travel costs are covered).

The AI engineer will be required to undertake the following activities.

  • Build an AI-powered platform: To develop and implement an AI-powered business health diagnostic platform.
  • Working with people: Collaborating with internal teams, clients, and stakeholders to understand their needs, gather feedback, and ensure effective communication throughout the project.
  • Delivering results and meeting customer expectations: Ensuring that project milestones are achieved, deliverables are met on time and within budget, and customer expectations are consistently exceeded.
  • Project management and personal development: Learning and implementation of project and commercial management tools and techniques.

The successful AI engineer will have the following skills, experience and attributes:

  • PhD or equivalent professional qualifications and experience in Computer Science, Financial Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a similar field.
  • Experience with AI model development and deployment using Python and other relevant frameworks.
  • An awareness of SaaS business models, ideally in financial services (Advantageous)
  • Ability to manage individual workload whilst being part of a wider team.
  • Confident in communicating technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • A passion for self-development and expanding commercial landscape knowledge.
